Hey guys, thought this would maybe be of interest to some of you, seeming as many in our community follow history, different cultural values and ideologies, and collector's items.
What I'm selling is a book entitled
Understanding Communism - A Study Manual by James D. Bales, original copyright 1962; this is the 2nd printing, copyright 1965.
Most people familiar with U.S. history will realize that this book was published shortly after the years of "McCarthyism" and the "Second Red Scare," in which U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy led years of witch hunt-like Communism accusations and aggressive investigations. Notable events of this time period were the Hollywood blacklist, and associated hearings conducted by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). The height of "McCarthyism" was during the Cold War with the Soviet Union, when the U.S. Gov't. was greatly concerned with Communism's emergence as a recognized political force and its success in organizing labor unions.
This book was clearly another anti-Communist publication. "It evaluates the basic principles and practices of communism in the light of God's Word - and finds them not only sadly wanting but positively and blatantly anti-Christian and anti-Scriptural." <- From the back of the book itself.
The book is in Great condition for its age, no rips on any pages or the cover, just slight wear at the top & bottom of outside binding. 88 pages long, and includes chapters such as: 3. The Atheism of Communism, 7. Marxism and Morality, 10. Current Communist Strategy and Tactics, 11. We Are at War, and 12. What Can You Do?
