What % of DOA hashrate is acceptable?

I never really paid much attention to it besides now. Im wondering what % of DOA hashrate is normal, and if there is a way to lower it.

My doa hashrate in my very small operation is around 1.7% I can live with that. With my scrypt mining asic its closer to 6% and I am a bit uncomfortable with that percentage but not a whole lot I can do about it as everybody running that hardware reports fairly similar.
