The May Scale of Money Hardness and BitCoin

http://stakeventures.com/articles/2012/03/07/the-may-scale-of-money-hardness-and-bitcoin

This tickles me.

When talking about Bitcoin with people who are unfamiliar with it, the obvious comparisons to other digital currencies and value transfer systems come up.
It may seem like a minor point of terminology - but to refer to bitcoin as a 'hard' money due to it being irreversable and unconfiscable  versus 'soft' molestable systems like Paypal is a good  way of emphasizing the distinction.
People understand the 'hardness' of cash - so it makes sense to apply it to bitcoin in this sense.

Perhaps this little bit of spin terminology has come up before - but it escaped me!

edit: indeed, when I search for 'hard money' and bitcoin it does come up.  Well - it seems like a meme worth spreading.
As pointed out by someone in the comments of the article, 'hardness' is already ranked against various payment methods on the bitcoin wiki: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Payment_methods

of course size matters, but you could have the biggest pile of cash on the block, if its not hard, its not as useful.

Unless your capable of using it in limp mnode, in which case you'll be able to afford staying at the Hamptons.
