Hi !

On http://www.cryptocoinrank.com there is a row titled "Volume".

What exactly does it mean ? Is it the trade volume or the book order volume ?

Edit: Found the thread here....

"AGG Trading Volume -> combined trading volume from many different exchanges (±24h% change coming soon)"

Okay. So what exactly does it mean ?

LTC seems to have nearly 50 Million $ while BTC just ca. 10 Million $ of that AGG Trading Volume.
I am confused. Does it mean, LTC is traded 5 times as much as BTC ?
And what is the cause ? What is happening with all the Litecoins ?
Is this just speculation ? How can one find out how many coins of a currency are spent for goods and services ?

Here is another site providing exchanges' data:

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/show/btc
"Trading volume of all pairs for this coin 9,625.41 BTC"

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/show/ltc
"Trading volume of all pairs for this coin 48,257.87 BTC"

So, the ltc trade volume is still at about 5x of the btc trade volume.
But, you can see most of the ltc trade volume is in LTC/CNY trade in OKCoin, which has been accused of faking trade data for a long period time. Cheesy

Strange litecoin with 5x more trading volume than bitcoin. Maybe people panic dumping litecoin, while others buy waiting for a reversal. Maybe market manipulation. Or maybe just Sunday abnormality, people tired of the flat rate of BTC and waiting something to happen to buy or sell.

Anyway I'll keep an eye on that

I can't see how that is correct. Not trying to be a jerk but its shocking that ltc could be being bought in larger numbers. Unless your talking about ltc being counted as ltc compared to btc as the price difference is huge. Any more opinions here?

If you're asking about volume, it tells how fast does a coin liquidates to the market and so on. Cheesy

As far as i know okcoin and huobi dont have trading fees, so huge amount of volume is "fake".
Look at the volume when swings happen, that is the most accurate way of understanding real volume exchange is having.

To save the trading fee, maybe?
But as others mentioned, the Chinese exchanges are very likely faking their trade volumes.
