The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

A lot of places like Kenya are more ready for bit coin than most people realize. They are already used to mobile payments and the move to bit coin is one easy step. I believe it will be easier for people like them than it will be for most westerners.
