How would I trade against LTC or BTC? As in if I thought the price was going to drop? Can you do that with Cryptos?

I dont know of any platform that allows this directly, what you can do however is borrow BTC/LTC send to an exchange, sell, wait for drop, rebuy, pay back loan.

You will need collateral or other securities though. This board has a lending section (Warning: Newbies asking for a loan w/o collateral and escrow will most likely get bad rep) and BTCJam might be something that can work for you.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

you can margin sell LTC and BTC on Bitfinex's platform. you can also do so on BTCE via the Meta Trader 4 platform (BTCE > finance tab > Meta Trader) and FX Open (see signature Tongue).

I think you can do that on any major exchange. I trade on AltoCenter, you may want to check it out https://altocenter.com/

A few days ago would have been a good time to short, but I dont think we will see too much of it going down before a spike upwards..

Scrypt coin hash cost is expected to keep going down till year end.

With no demand and cost of production keep going down, it is actually a good time to short all the scrypt coins (Litecoin, Dogecoin and etc).

I think you can do that on btc-e, also you can use leverage on that, so you can lose or win more.

If you think for example that BTC is going to fall against LTC then you could sell your BTC for LTC, then do the reverse when you think the trend is going to be reversed.

If you think that BTC is going to fall in terms of fiat, you could take out a swap at an exchange that allows margin trading, essentially borrower BTC to "sell it short"

This is probably not the best place to ask about this, but is there any place I can buy or write calls, puts, or other derivatives in bitcoin or altcoin?

btc-e has one of the better platforms (a real forex trading platform) for short selling bitcoin or altcoins if you don't care about technical analysis tools then go with bitfinx.

Here is what you would get with btc-e 1:3 leverage and the metatrader platform as seen below

Also if your into automated trading MT4 is the way to go as the programing language is fairly easy to learn.

Spread ranges from $0.10 to a few dollars
