Hi Michael,
your asset would have been frozen and your account locked if there was a
risk of fraud.

Could you give me the name of your asset (the ticker symbol) and provide
the information below that would allow me to verify your identity.

I will need:
picture of your national ID
picture of your passport
picture of your driving licence

All the above pictures must be clear and must show a piece of paper with
<snip>  written on it.

I will also need you're home phone number, your mobile number, your home
address.

Some information about your professional life (where you currently work
etc.)

You must also use your personal Facebook and linked-in profiles to
friend these profiles below, so that I may inspect them.

If it's common then it's outrageous.
BTC needs an actual stock exchange asap.

There was a lot of fraud going on with GLBSE before Nefario took over and it was at risk of dying due to outrage, bad press, and consequential disuse.

Fifty John Does' "ScamAsset" is not a stock market, it's a medium of scamming. If someone wants to try the old way against Nefario's way, it'd be interesting to see which one the market favors. As is, creating an asset on GLBSE is a huge investment of time and effort.

This is requirement is not covered by GLBSE TOS, and I haven't seen a privacy policy.

That's true. Nefario really ought to change that ASAP.

You are right, creating an asset on GLBSE is a huge personal investment... in this case, smickles put in all the time and effort, not to mention the BTC he's got tied up in it.  And now because Nefario thinks there's a "risk of fraud" (not actual fraud, but a RISK for it), he freezes smickles' account and holds his funds hostage until smickles jumps through a dozen fiery hoops?  Complete bullshit.

Nefario answered this in a another thread and he said you don't have to give this information to create a asset on GLBSE V2 but the company will be rated as very risky and GLBSE will take no responsibility if something were to happen to that fund. I think this is a good development as there has been many frauds of people simply created a company and running it for a while with fake capital and then running away with the cash. This is bad for GLBSE and has to stop hence I believe this is a good way to stop it, but as stated I do not believe you have to comply to this. If you decide not to your company will be marked as a heavy risk though.

Edit:
Nvm realized this was irrelevant, but still good point to add to this discussion as this is the direction GLBSE is heading towards.

The issue has been sorted out. Nefario was invited to #bitcoin-otc and the community discussed it. My account and asset have been reinstated.

Nefario was very diplomatic in the face of some high emotion in the channel. I'd like to publicly thank him (I think nefario is a him) for his understanding.

I can only hope that this has not had a significant negative impact on the value of the asset or my reputation.

He lacks tact but I wouldn't call him an asshole (in that exchange or others).
