Can someone recommend a Corsair PSU that will easily run two overclocked S3's at 554GH/s. I was thinking of an AX1200i but would like to know if this will be suitable for running two overclocked S3's at the maximum of 554GH/s.

evga supernova 1300 watt PSU thats what I'll be using to power 3 at regular clock and if I decide to over clock any it will handle 2 just fine.

isn't it rated at 1350W? $295? Evga or corsair looks like a better deal (both ~$75-76/S3 when overclocked)

Get 1600 watt PSU instead, best price for money.

Isnt it cheaper to just buy a 600w ps for each s3 rather than a massive one to share across 3 units? Safer also, at lower current?

Agreed on the EVGA G2 1300... I grabbed one of those $153 deals thanks to you . I can run 3 S3s stock on that PSU, or 2 overclocked with plenty of power to spare. I've got a Corsair HX1050 that currently runs my 2 overclocked S1s that will be replaced by S3s running stock. The EVGA will run 2 overclocked S3s, and if I end up ordering another, I'll just drop the two back down to stock clocks and throw the 3rd on it as well. Like philipma1957 stated, that's $51 per S3 on the EVGA, and the HX1050 has already paid for itself from the S1s.

I said the evga was best. its biggest flaw is it is a little loud .
I have a seasonic 1200 platinum it is better if you want a quiet psu.
but it is 290 usd.
I can't find a good sale .
I use the seasonic on 11 gridseed blades pulls 900 watts for the 11 blades. the nice thing about it is 8 separate pcie cables
while the evga uses 6 pcie cables.
but 290 vs 153 or 170 and the evga wins out.

I assume it would be a bit quieter when not running full out - and it wouldn't be with the 2 S3s overclocked. Bitmain's original specs for the S3 were 504GH/s at 390W from the wall. Latest I read was that maximum overclocked draw was 0.981W/GH/s, so total draw would be ~1100 watts from the PSU, which might get the fans spinning. In any case... I've got an SP10, so I'm very well acquainted with loud fans

When I explained it was my new miner she said, "You have got to be kidding me. There's no way I'm listening to that damn screeching." So, I tweaked the settings and put it in a corner in the basement. Every day she'll still throw a comment out about not being able to hear me over the noise.

If BTC goes to 10K, the first question would be-why you had ONLY seven? I agree that noise, especially noise with changing tonalities (like S1 does when it accelerates) is a major decision maker. If S3 is noisy, I will have to sell at least some.

If the s-3's underclock/undervolt to 400gh and 240 watts they will run very quietly . this may be possible to do.

Thanks to all of you who replied to this thread. I've now ordered an EVGA 1300 from dabs.com for £149 incl. VAT (yes unfortunately I'm in the UK and have to pay 20% tax). That should be enough power to run the two S3's I have on order in batch#2 and be able to fully over-clock them. Just hope, as everyone else is that they start shipping very soon.
