-Clear goal, and interesting (well, funny anyway) story
-Clear benefit to backers (silly fun and/or eating potato salad is a benefit)
-No self-important nonsense
Lots and lots of kickstarters are basically "fund this because I wanna do it" which is not a good reason. This one was "fund this for the lulz and/or you get to eat potato salad" which is a plenty good reason.
