Is there anything I can do about a hacked/stolen account?

The worst part is i'm global moderator on both DGC and WDC forums, and i'm worried this user may use my account to undermine what i say (those accounts are still intact- different passwords etc.)

Please help, preferably a mod - I have ways to prove the account is mine.

Thanks.

It's only here that my account was stolen - all my other accounts are fine.

It's been a few months since i couldn't log in, but wasn't overly bothered as i was monitoring the account and no one was using it. That has changed since the 4th of this month - I just hate that they're using my account, avatar, profile and even signing off with my trademark 'K'

Follow the steps illustrated in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 and then wait patiently for a few days. Smiley

Have you posted any Bitcoin address here? If you did, show theymos either the PM ID or the Thread link and sign a message with the address, indicating you have ownership of the account. Also, scan for virus on your computer and change all your passwords.

Yeah, i wasn't infected, but security here is easily bypassed - thanks for the advice, my BTC address may well be the way to go.

There should really be a sticky of what to do when your account is stolen and how to recover it. Where to send a PM with your bitcoin address. How to sign a message. etc.

Would cut down about 25% of posts in Meta

I am afraid that it won't work.
There is a sticky thread here in Meta section talking about "activity", and another sticky thread in Newbie section talking about the 360s post limit, but we still have people asking about those questions again and again...

Most newbies think that the stickies are too long and don't have time to read them. When they have any problems, they ask immediately without reading anything from the forum.

Because the people here on bitcointalk are too helpful lol.
Maybe we should start answering those questions with "Go read the stickies yourself". Smiley
