I would use MYBB if I were you it is also free and very simple to use. Also you can change themes etc.

MyBB is pretty good too, i had a forum with MyBB, there are lots of extensions for MyBB.

I wonder how the 'new forum' theymos is apparently working on will be like. I guess he ordered it custom tailored? It'll be interesting to see what features get culled from this forum and if everything's at least as safe and secure as it is with this forum. Please don't go downhill from here

Simple Machines seems nice, and while I've never used it, this forum uses it and it seems to work fine.

I've used phpBB before and it's pretty good too.

Most people would agree that the best forum software is vBulletin, but it isn't free. In fact, it's quite expensive.
