I would like to ask you Guys, is this a good video card to mine on? I know the wiki thread. I know it gets very nice mh/s but perhaps there is someone here who mines on 5970 and could share his experience with me? Smiley

No that card is ancient, where did you find it.  You should sell it to me.  I will buy it for $350 if it is in good condition.  Another $200 more and you can get a 7970 which is 2000 better than a 5970.

"Brand new" doesn't really have any value unless it is coming from an authorized retailer.  No OEM is going to take a sales receipt from kliffen at documentation for warranty.

I wouldn't pay extra for "new in the box" 5970.  Anyone can take a used card, drop in in a mint condition box and call it "new in the box".

Show me a retailer which has new 5970s at any decent price (<$400).

Ignore kliffen. He is trolling. Last week on the BTC-E chat he was saying he borrowed 400 000 USD to buy 10 rig boxes Roll Eyes

There is no way you get a new 5970 now from anywhere simply because they are EOL for a long time now and 7990 should soon be out etc.

Talked to the bank on Friday, getting 200 000 NOK initially if we can prove it profitable, so we're doing the last bit on our business-plan now. I never said i had the money, i said i was talking to the bank about it, and doing the math on it. Please get your facts right

And you can absolutely get a new 5970 from "somewhere". If you can get 20 year+ old consoles with factory seals on them, why wouldn't you be able to get a 2 year old graphics card with a factory seal on it? It's all about determination and the price you have to pay.

For $400 i think you'd end up with nothing. I saw one at some obscure webshop about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure the price was $1200 or so though.

Here's one in Sweden for 4000 SEK http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=614245 It says "1 in stock soon", to all you non-scandinavians
