Sorry for being the idiot here, but I don't get it. You aren't referring to the "RealCoin" altcoin are you? Is this some pun I'm not getting? I understand that the foundation has not been transparent and a lot of well-respected members of dropped, but I don't get this thread. :/

RealCoin could be SolidCoin's sibling coin.

The Bitcoin Foundation board member Brock Pierce is rolling out RealCoin... an Alt coin. What can be worse for The Bitcoin Foundation to question its credibility ? Its' own board members dont have trust in Bitcoin !!!

Brock Pierce in a conflict of interest.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

This is news to me.
It will probably be a great pump and dump coin. Will take off massively with all that financial backing...before a long, steady decline into nothing.

The funny thing is that, getting buyers will be easy for Brock and his associates, but finding buyers for the first time buyers will be difficult. So Brock and his associates will definitely make money, but will anyone else ?

Readers may be confussing Pierce's new "RealCoin" with a previously launched altcoin that is already defunct, it seems.

Announcement of Pierce's RealCoin on the Wall Street Journal, 2014-07-08 (yesterday)

Pierce did not wait long to stir up even more controversy.  I just read an article saying that Andreas was distancing himself from the foundation.   Don't think it's good at all for the foundation to be kind of viewed as "the face of bitcoin"  (at least to inexperienced people)

Regarding the accusation they are the realcoin foundation, not sure don't have enough info on that myself but it sounds like a direct conflict of interest to be shilling an altcoin alternative while using the foundation as a mechanism to do so.

Yeah I have a real problem with this as well. There is a lot more they could do to support bit coin. Promoting another coin is a waste of time, especially when they are all ready doing very little to support bit coin other than making occasional statements and collecting donations for the right to vote on issues.

Now I wonder whether core dev will be forced to include realcoin into bitcoin core client. It is high time that other foundation members stand up and kick out Brock Pierce or anyone who is trying to push their Alt using Bitcoin platform. Are u listening Lee/Gavin ?

What do the bylaws say about "impeachment" of the director?  I read them some time ago and they struck me as exceedingly un-demoncratic.  The election of Brock Pierce for instance was decided by the board not the memers as a whole, AFAIK.

Brock Pierce in a conflict of interest.
Then he should be thrown out of TBF and problem solved.
I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of hate for RealCoin.

But, in reality, the reverse has taken place. Andreas Antonopoulos is now out of the foundation !!!

This is just ridiculous, most alt coins are made so their founders can get rich by mining early and then promoting the coin to others. So a member of the board is trying to profit off of an alt coin......SMH
