hello,

i'm having some questions about mining for slush's pool.
i have a brand new r9 290x(wich is slightly underclocked because my psu couldn't handle it, i'm getting a better one tomorrow).
so when i am mining now i get a constant 690-710 Mhash/s according to guiminer(on my slush account i see about 650 Mhash/s so it's all working properly i think).

my first question is; last night i had my computer running the whole night and had like 5500 shares (don't know if the shares are that important), but when i looked at my slush account i found no new btc at all and the estimated reward box told me i would be getting about 0.00000250 btc but i got only like 0.00000023. and now for my second question; isn't that a very low reward for mining that many hours at a constant rate of 700 Mhash/s?

btw, i had already mined 0.00000812 the day before in about 4 hours, wich also seems too little of a reward.

thanks in advance.

I guess your either new to mining or been out of the game for a while. The average miner now is pushing 500ghs with budget miners at 100ghs. GPUs just don't cut it anymore. Its like dropping a penny in a lake pointless and ineffective

Recent in the bitcoin world is a week in the last 6 months bitcoin hashrate has gone up about 10 fold. Have a look at blockchain.info in the graphs section look for network hashrate and see how much its going up and how fast.

The best way to see the graph is its your compatition. All them are fighting for a piece of the bitcoin pie the bigger the bite you take the more pie you get. Mining with a gpu your taking such a small amount of pie that its not worth the effort of fighting for a piece

Litecoin is heading the same way and give a month gpu wont be worth it. But there are other coins using diffrent code. Look in altcoins section and find a coin thats asic resistant or gpu only. These will be your best be for earning profit multipool.us also has some good info on which coins most profitable and switchs your hashrate over to match

2 ghs wouldn't really work that well its still a small bite and probably wont break even. the minimum really is 100ghs at a very very cheap price maybe 100 euro to make some money. If all else fails go with ghash.io and just buy virtual mining hashes there good price at 0.007btc per ghash

Go to multipool.us and setup a miner to use either scrypt-j or x11 it will auto switch between the most profitable coins. Dont forget to use the correct software whoch should be on there site to. As to will you profit feom ot its all trial and error and when you cash out what the prices are.

Cgminer dosnt support gpus to use it you need v3.1 or earlier.

i've installed 3.1.0 and it's doing the same thing as before, it's only saying that the stratum detected a new block and network difficulty has changed. i don't get what i am doing wrong this time.

guiminer-scrypt for scrypt coins. Also, did you add the "--scrypt" to your .bat file?
