Hi guys
I've been reading this forum for a while now, and as same as you I believe that bitocin might be very successful sooner or later.
I came up with an idea that we might suggest Gavin Andresen as a speaker at TED. Personally I am a big fan of TED and I like to watch their talks when I have some spare time. I don't know how many of you, know it, so in the case somebody doesn't know what TED is about I can only say that it is a nonprofit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds:  Technology, Entertainment, Design. (bitcoin matches those criteria very well) You can find more about TED here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TED_(conference) and at www.ted.com

Anyway, in order to get Gavin Andresen to speak about bitcoin, somebody (it can be anybody) has to nominate him at this website: http://www.ted.com/nominate/speaker
I am not a native English speaker so I don't feel very confident about filling out this form. So Maybe somebody from this forum or maybe even Gavin himself can fill it out? It would be a great opportunity to spread the word about bitcoin

PS I searched forum for a similar post and I haven't found one. However if this topic has already been talked through. I am sorry for doubling posts

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

More realistically, how about the libertarian show "Freedom Watch" by Judge Andrew Napolitano.  Looks like someone has just started a new show topic, so please vote for bitcoin for free here:

http://freedomwatch.uservoice.com/forums/16625-freedom-watch-show-ideas/suggestions/1778101-bitcoin

Only 3 votes so far...needs more!  A lot of great people in the pro-freedom movement have been on that show.  I used to watch it regularly.

I've been pitching Bitcoin on a daily basis on my Bitcoin Roadtrip and I'm getting better at communicating the concepts. My next step is to create a really, really slick presentation, TED-quality. Send me too!

All posts by me after 2012 were a compromised account. Probably by "BBOD The Best Futures Exchange". SORRY Y'ALL

I suggest eMansipater go and talk. He is quite well spoken and seems to have fun explaining the ins and outs of bitcoin to anybody.

Actually I recently pitched BitCoin unofficially at an invite-only TEDx event, and I do have quite a bit of experience with public speaking.  This would be great fun for me!

Well, I think it should be Gavin at TED, or another core dev.

Why?

Judging by the  introduction to newbies https://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=7269.0 that eMansipater wrote, he has a very good understanding how things work.

TED is about "the vision thing"; somebody really good at public speaking and putting together compelling presentations should do it.

Somebody who actually enjoys travelling around and speaking about something they are passionate about.  I want to spend my time building stuff, not talking about stuff.

PS:  I think bitcoin needs another year of growth before it is TED-worthy.

How often do you get the chance to work on a potentially world-changing project?

+1.  Audiences need tangible applications, not just abstract possibilities.
