All bitten the dust as I write. Users at btc-e.com are reporting p2pool under DOS attack as well. Crap.

Who is doing this? Do they really think this has any lasting effect on anything, and don't they have any better causes to pursue than ddosing pools?

because they can
because they weren't aware early enough and aren't making any money from bitcoin/litecoin/solidcoin
they are trying to 51% the network

mostly, just because.

Any idea how they are attacking p2pool.  Does LTC p2pool has a small number of nodes?

That 3.0 MH/s pre DDOS number how many nodes was that?

OK it would be good if you included a link to the patches so I could check it if you ask me that way wouldn't it? Wink
I am using windows daemon binary (version 50004) from here. There seem to be no patches announced...but I would not be surprised if they were just for Linux.
