Apparently all this talk of Dogecoin dying has been caused by the Dogecoin version of Mt Gox according to this article: http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/dogecoin-dead/2014/07/12

While Dogecoin users may be great at utilizing PR tactics, they’ve made it pretty clear that the plan is for Dogecoin to stick around for a long time. Posts constantly reach the front page of their subreddit reminding the userbase that while Dogecoin was born out of a joke, it is no laughing matter economically. The coin is currently second place in front of all of the altcoins, beating out Litecoin and Reddcoin.

Not sure what this is about. It's bigger than Reddcoin of course, but Litecoin?

Was in the 200+ satoshis pump, few days before some halving. No doge has 7th biggest market cap, according to coinmarketcap.com

Dogecoin will probably be a survivor of this round of alt coins due to its community as long as infrastructure follows.  However, that does not mean that it will be worth a lot relative to BTC.  Too Many Coins and No Limit Ever may prove a very tough row to hoe for the doge.

My thoughts exactly, especially in the long term against coin emission system used in cryptonote coins.. but i hope it weathers the storm, because a community as solid as doge's isn't easily replicated.
