New RasPi with 4 USB ports, better power consumption and the annoying SD card holder is gone!

Shouldn't be long till these find there way into rigs.

I do have a model b now. it should be great if they also change the monitor connection so a standard desktop monitor will work easy.

It has actually got some really good and handy improvements, which should help the mining community out (even lower power consumption!),
and it is available at the same price.

The higher quality microSD slot is also nice (although I personally never had any problems with too loose SD cards), and more USB ports means less mess with adapters.

Could one be wired up to the GPIO? No idea what that thing actually does. But if you want a router, just get a TP + a cheap switch.

No idea on that GPIO either, thought someone would create a daughter card but nothing yet. TP would work, but for that money/power usage, I can just stick with the cheap Dell with PCI-e Giga-bit cards.

Total 4 USB ports. That can now provide 1.2A with a 2A micro usb power supply

Lots of new updrages. I would imagine they will keep upgrading them and keeping it at the same price
as technology will allow. I heard rumors of a super raspberry pi . I dont know if or when that will come out.
The 1.2a output was a nice bump since the older ones could only do 200ma, which as others have said will allow for less
things to be connected.

I just bought my two Raspberry Pi Model B 512MB RAM not too long ago, second one like 2 weeks ago.

I like the MicroSD slot, the rest for what I use it for is meh, but prob very beneficial to ones that use it as a computer.

Not big of a deal no real hardware change as too more ram or better processor.

RPI1>Minera>6 Gridseeds.
RPI2>Minera>One Fury.

A lot of SD adapters are different from each others. For example, I have a Microsdhc card, with one adapter it's slow 11MB/s write - 50MB/s Read, with my other adapter its fast 12MB/s write - 80MB/s read.

This microsd slot is so beneficial and imho the best improvement.

What they could have done was atleast upgraded the network chipset for the ethernet to be 1000Mbps=125MB/s or so.

This would be beneficial to ones that swap their boot to a ssd or HDD.

The Raspberry PI version 2 wont be out till 2017, the foundation are working on optimising OS and software till then.

The new rasperry pi can control 4 USB devices without a hub, whereas the old raspi b would have needed a usb hub.

Both devices can control more than 4 miners.
