Runescape used to be awesome until they added trade limits. Balanced trade takes all the fun out of merchanting.

They removed trade limits.
When they'd do this??? Has it really changed that much!?

Not sure, don't play anymore. I think they brought back the wilderness too.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

You guys are really out of the loop. This stuff has been brought back for many many years. Anyways, let's stick to the original topic of jagex accepting bitcoin? Any users have any idea how we can try to push this forward to Jagex? Would a thread on the original runescape forums help?

I used to play runescape a lot around 2005-2010. It was pretty much my life. My parents would never let me buy membership, so I would always put $10 in a envelope and mail Jagex headquarters at night and they would give me membership. Funny story. Anyways, wouldn't it be great if Jagex accepted bitcoin? It seems like it would be a great payment option for them. Simply send bitcoins to an address, and get membership status on your account. They could use bitpay or whatever so they don't have to hold BTC.

Is there anyway I can get this going? Anyway to get a petition or something (I want to avoid those petition.org things because they seem very ineffective). Anyway of talking directly to Jagex's payment department?

I used to play runescape at that time period a long time ago
Recalls I gave my account to a kid then took it back a year later after they quit lol they still exist but I haven't logged in for years
Good memories though and having Jagex take bitcoin as a kid would have been so much more convenient since it was hard to pay for membership without a Visa.

Maybe I should play perhaps they added a free quest and brought the wildy back lol and trade limits are gone wow way out of the loop people still want chickens  and cow hides Smiley

Old School Merchant here, merchanted from 50k to 100b lol.

It is was what got me interested in bitcoin -- if rsgp can facilitate the runescape economy so well, i figured virtual currencies would be very important in the future. And i figured that out well before 2009, i just wish it did not take me 2 years after 2009 to hear about bitcoin lol. It seems my success trading in runescape translates to doing very well with bitcoin, i feel like the crypto market is closer to mmorpg markets than it is to the stock market, so it is an advantage over most people.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You mean, digital currencies?

Anyway, I don't see what's so bad about the EoC, I personally don't have a problem with most of the changes. What I don't like, however, is that there's too much levelling involved in this game.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.

I played a bit more after the wildy/free trade return. But then I stopped playing after a while.

I played runescape around the same time as OP. I have seen posts on the runescape forum a few times about this and it seems most players don't understand. Often, they end up with the misunderstanding that they want to remove all payment options and replace it with bitcoin. Many people seem to say that bitcoin could make Jagex bankrupt or that it's used for drugs or illegal. There doesn't seem to be a big demand for it.

Personally I haven't played  this in years, partly because of the way they were changing it and partly because it was taking up too much time. I still have around 30M gold though while I could potentially sell for BTC (although RWT gold isn't work that much these days).

I guess that's the problem with having a primarily 12 year old userbase. It's hard to rally support for bitcoin because most people just simply don't understand it. Maybe in the future as a large part of their userbase matures and bitcoin becomes more mainstream they will adopt it. Good post man.

You could try emailing them and see what they say or using the support. I can't imagine you would get a reply but you can certainly try.

Yea as said earlier, you could get a few people together and have them email the company and then they could possibly start accepting bitcoin. Possibly start a petition like you said.

I don't think a lot of subcription services would like the idea of bitcoin it would mess up there recurring fees structure.

This is why you sell a 6-12 month subscription, not monthly.

Maybe they could link directly to your coinbase account or something for recurring fees? Does anyone know if coinbase has made this sort of deal with any company yet?
