Can someone tell me, why GPU mining is better then CPU mining?? It's so strangely, i think.

Both CPU and GPU mining are a useless waste of time now.  Here is a link for mining hardware comparison.

Using your personal computer, wheter it is CPU or GPU, it's only useful at the very beginings of a coin launch or when a coin goes unnoticed for a while thus being still somewhat mineable in terms of ROI. Beyond this, after big players enter the mining game on any coin it's useless henceforth. The last time I made any relevant gains was with DOGE in the first days when everyone tought it was a joke. This is basically the only time I did any gains. Oh I also could have made 2BTC off the AUR bubble, but didn't sell. It's basically a waste of time and a lot of luck to mine the right coin at the right time. Ideally you want to be part of instamines like the DRK one, then cash out for BTC.

I had assumed he was talking about Bitcoin mining since he posted his question in the Bitcoin forum.

Since nobody actually answered your question, let me.  GPU mining is better than CPU mining because a GPU can far better handle parallel processing.

GPUs can perform 'stupid' operations faster while consuming far less energy in the process. Graphics operations are - computational-wise - rather boring and simple operations. When they're configured to perform the mining algorithms, they outperform CPUs easily. But ASICs are even better. They're specifically designed to do those calculations and consume even less energy.

Because GPU is much faster then CPU but they both sucks in mining anyway..

GPU's are better for hashing most algorithms. There are still some CPU only coins though (I believe) because developing a GPU miner for them would take too much time to be worth it.

OP, please chime in and clarify if this is a Bitcoin or Altcoin topic?

Honestly, I don't think it's either.  It's more of a general computing question.  I mean, he could have asked, "Why does a GPU render graphics better than a CPU?"

Sure, but if he wanted to know how to make the most of a CPU and/or a GPU the altcoin forum would give him allot better information.  But it looks like he abandoned the thread anyway.

Why does a GPU render graphics better than a CPU anyway?

That is funny Smiley

How does one set up a CPU mining program? Ive been doing all of my bit coin mining personally, with minimum success, get back to me guys thanks!

Your either joking or haven't read this or any other thread about mining Bitcoin with a CPU or GPU.  Which is it?

Both of them are waste of time because of ASIC..

in context of bitcoin mining is the waste of time.
if you mistake the board:
re-ask it in altcoins. There are CPU-only coins(gpu have no advantages). Sometimes due to the fact that no one has written gpu-miner. Sometimesdue the algos in the coin.

And if i get PoS/PoW diff right - coins with PoS have the different mining system.

Dont waste your time setting up your CPU for bitcoin mining, you will get nothing (few satoshi maybe).

Okay. All mining process is so hardly, that need to with parallel processing, by liner math task. Do i rightly understatnd that??

I'm not sure I entirely understand your reply, but let me give you a bit more detail.

At it's most basic level, mining is nothing more than solving math problems.  Depending on which coin you're mining, the math function might change, but it's still solving a math problem.  It is an extremely repetitive process.  In other words, you have to do the same function over and over and over.  This is why a GPU is faster than a CPU.  What does a GPU do, really?  Execute a ton of similar math problems in parallel to render a graphics object.  It's a purpose-built chip to offload those kinds of transactions from your CPU.

This is why ASICs are even faster.  The mining ASIC has no job in the world OTHER than to solve those specific math problems.  Try to think about it like this:

CPU - has to deal with all kinds of different instructions, from all kinds of different applications.
GPU - has to deal with specific sets of instructions, so it can handle those kinds of instructions faster since it is dedicated to do just them
ASIC - has to deal with only a single kind of instruction, so it is entirely built to do just that extremely fast.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Both CPU and GPU mining are a useless waste of time now.  Here is a link for mining hardware comparison.
GPU worked a year ago but it uses too much power, causes too much heat.  Its just the wrong tool, not that its now unable but its been surpassed by cheaper, more specialised gear.
If BTC rose to a million bucks each maybe gfx would be worth using ? (or probably not still)

GPU render the same frame sixty times a second with little difference, it happens to suit crypto hashing process very much better then a cpu because of that.

A cpu tries to cache repeated information and it forms hot lines for fast processing but ultimately it is not intended to do such repetitive tasks.  I believe in both cases they would be called pipelines but cpu instruction set is far more complex which shows up now in the coins done by home users, they tend be far more convoluted then bitcoin.   BTC has jumped to asic which is single minded to that task, where the alt coin devs have taken up x11 or x13 coins which use 13 hash codes to encrypt instead of the btc approach of massive difficulty levels
