You have some options to choose from which i recommend you: -Armory -Multibit (i use this one, best) -Bitcoin Core -Electrum
These are not really online wallets. I would suggest just sticking to something like localbitcoins. I don't trust online wallets but with localbitcoins the possibility of all the funds being hacked are less likely. But it works very well as an online wallet.

Blockchain is good option. It is true. Very good for small amount, but for bigger amount you should use traditional wallet at your PC. But I prefer to not use any middle man. It is question of security. It is like leaving funds on the Exchange. It can crash anytime.
Why is it ok for small amounts but not large? It should either be good and safe or not. I think blockchain.info isnn't any less safe than a desktop wallet especially if you don't know what you're doing. I think the key is making sure you're safe and protected because if you're not you can lose your coins whether you store them online or on your desktop.

Internet-based wallets store your private keys online. These wallets are unusually controlled by a third party via the Internet. Some of these online wallets can be connected to mobile and desktop wallets, duplicating addresses on various devices. One of the greatest advantages of online wallets remains its accessibility — you can access your funds anywhere where there is access to the Internet. The greatest disadvantage of such wallets lies in the involvement of a third party — someone else controls your funds bringing the users back to centralisation. Most reputable online Bitcoin wallets are Coinbase, Circle, Blockchain, and Xapo.
Whatever Bitcoin wallet you choose, it is important to protect it from hacking. By encrypting your passwords, backing up your wallet, and possibly using multi-signature you can ensure safety and security of your Bitcoins.

I agree, altough it seems to be not very popular on this forum nowadays... but I think it's still the best online wallet, expecially regarding their very simple transaction options, to mix money and to make customized transactions. Never had a problem with blockchain.info.
Hackers have been trying to break into blockchain.info for many years now, with minimal success. I used to keep my coins there, as it offers a decent wallet, which is safe and secure. However, I moved most of my coins to offline storage around a year ago.

For blockchain.info, your wallet file is first encrypted on the client side before uploading to their server, so they don't and can't control your bitcoin indeed. There are also multisig online wallets like greenaddress.

I'd not recommend online wallets, even bc.i.... Last month (March), bc.i had some incident which prevented their coins being confirmed by miners (iirc they were disconnected from bitcoin nodes network). And sometimes their HTTP goes down, it's not that uncommon. Of course someone will say 'you can export & import' but it's not that easy for n00bs.
