According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

But I call bs because the only result I got searching nytimes and bitcoin was a story from 1879 or something about even older currency.

If it's something in the May 2 print edition, it might get posted to the website for those who subscribe to the electronic edition the night before but dated for May 2.
