So the only purpose of buying this card is to load the balance onto your paypal. I was under the impression this is a safe method since you have to buy the moneypak with cash, hence it can't be charged back.

However I've seen a post or two that said the moneypak was somehow charged back and they got scammed. I think some people also got their account frozen from using illegitimate moneypak. Any comments to verify this? Or just in general how safe moneypak is?

if they buy the money pack with cash they would have to file a police report to get the moneypak cancelled, and i think most people use moneypaks to load on their geendotcards.

As far as I understand, BTC sellers sold BTC for MoneyPak, and before they could redeem it to their PayPal, the buyer redeems it first, so the seller gets scammed.

No, I originally started using them to cash out of online poker sites (P2P), to load onto prepaid Greendot cards. I only started noticing the Paypal thing maybe a year ago, I think that came later.

They can be charged back. Abuse does not seem as widespread as with Paypal, but I'd say, only deal with reputable people.

Not through conventional means, but I'm sure I've heard stories of people claiming they had calls from Greendot that the card they applied was fraudulently obtained and that they'd have to reverse the transaction.

the moneypak can be charged back. the Greendot card is just a prepaid debit card like any other -- so if a moneypak you loaded onto it was charged back they would take from your balance. i don't know that they would necessarily close your Greendot card account, not sure.

Apparently, if you use a bad moneypak to load your greendot card, you get your account locked and possibly banned.

Can greendot card user cash it out at atm to prevent any reverse?

Not "now" -- always. Always be careful sending bitcoins in exchange for a 3rd party-backed payment.

PayPal is very soft.
Western Union and MoneyGram are hard.
MoneyPaks are somewhere in the middle.

When trading, you should do what works best for you. I personally cannot believe some people still sell for PayPal. But hey, it works for them. Or at least they think it does.

No exchange I know of currently accept MoneyPak as deposit.
