On this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.0 it says:
Quote from: theymos
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
I was wondering what the comma means. Is it activity=(time * 14 + posts)?

On another note, does this forum use HTML / CSS?

It's whichever number is smaller of the two, which is why you see min just before the parentheses.

The result is that the maximum your activity can be is the number of two week periods you've been active multiplied by 14 OR the number of total posts, again, whichever is smaller.

1st two weeks period you post 14. Your Activity = 14
2nd two weeks period your post 10. Your Activity = 24
and you add more post in this period, total your post now=30, your activity = 28 (2 * 14)
max 14 every to weeks period

Meaning you need to make an average of 14 post every 2 weeks to increase your activity.

One more thing is as long as you post once in a two week period , your maximum activity will still increase.

Example :

Period 1 = 2 posts
Period 2 = 1 post
Period 3 = 5 posts
Period 4 = 2 posts
Period 5 = 1 post

I will have 11 activity after these posts , but if I post 59 more times in the next day , my activity will instantly spike to 70.
This is because I have posted atleast once in each of the previous 5 periods.

Note: The periods do not start from when you register , they are arbitrary and you can find their dates here :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

Interesting.

So, older account with few post has potential to become hero status overnight?

That is true only if the account has posted in many different periods.
If the account was created long time ago but has only posted in 3 periods, the activity cap is still 3*14 = 42 Smiley

Meaning you need to make an average of 14 post every 2 weeks to increase your activity.

Actually you only need to make one post per two week period to increase your activity.

Assuming your post count is greater than your activity then you will receive all activity points up to your post count at a maximum of 14 points per two week period.

You can make one post in a two week period and make up the activity at a later date. That post during that period is kind of like a 'checking in' post.

I think i may be retarded because I don't get it.
So to sum it up, you can increase maximum 14 activity points every 2 weeks by making 14 posts every 2 weeks right?

That works, yes.

As long as you make at least one post in a two week period then you can get the rest of the activity at a later date when posting.

OP try searching this, it has been asked many times.
Just have a decent amount of posts and post in each period. You should slowly be going up.

There are no real benefits. These are just titles. In addition to this with each rank the time between posts/pm's is being shortened, if you call that a benefit.

As long as you're not in a sig campaign, you can troll around a lot. Like really a lot. People can't really accuse you of spamming because well, there's absolutely no point for you to spam.

But really, when you hit hero member, you get sent 22 million BTC by the forums, cause they want to show you the love.

Also, isn't a sticky topic enough? Why is there a new activity topic every week? I swear, it's like people can't read.
