HYPster,

Then you would own 10k FIRE (>10%), the rest would be up to you. Could help the coin, just depends on what you would do with the 10k FIRE.  Everyone has ideas, what would yours be if you had 10k FIRE? If you ask me, I would say that FIRE COIN could be turned into anything. My vote would be some type of fire safety equipment as an item that FIRE could be known from (like the actual BTC/LTC coins made), but many might want FIRE to stand for something else. No one really talks about it, now could be a great time? What does the fire community think, other things FIRE could grow into?

I said the same thing 2 months ago; maybe if a company accepts BTC for their products and services can also take Firecoin as payment; Tom, you should do a poll ....

It wouldn't be that tough to get in contact with a few sites like these, ask them if they have heard about cryptocurrencies & see if they would be willing to test it out. You never know, they might add BTC/FIRE & help cryptocurrency grow. I'm not one for the gambling or many other apps that people are trying to add to every coin, that will not help promote a coin like a real merchant would. There might even be a few places like this that already accept BTC, just need someone to ask them what they would think about adding FIRE as well. The way I see it, if there's that one family/couple who is planning on adding a fireplace (just an example, could be anything fire related) & just can't quite afford it. Maybe if they were to see BTC/FIRE as a payment (BTC as the major payment & FIRE as the extra coupon/etc). Just another way of gambling maybe, but if they bought FIRE & held it for say a few month-1yr? The price they would have ended up paying to buy said Fireplace (example), think of the people who use credit or layaway for items.

There's 100's of places to start, they're not going to come to FIRE & FIRE has to go to them Wink

Just some random sites, but if someone was to really look into adding real merchants. FIRE might be able to make it's way, the Crypto-Auctions that Tom14Cat14 added to FIRE was a start. I would find one that is well built & has years of service though, no one wants to buy from a site with very few items & the service hasn't been around for years. Sorry if that creates some hate toward me from the merchants just trying to build, but as someone who has been down that road many times. It takes time & money to build, but if FIRE only adds the sites building & not ones that have a well built business in place already? Ones that make several sales everyday, would be what every coin needs & it's not going to find the coin, the coin has to find it Wink

I am sorry to say that today’s profit share payment will be the last for Firecoin. I am also stepping back and will no longer be a part of the coin. Someone is more than welcome to take the coin over. I have thought long and hard about this and I have had more experienced developers say I should have dropped this coin a long time ago. After we launched the in wallet trading and there was very little interest in it, it made the guy I was working with give up. I continued for another month and a half and donated all of my hashpower from 50mh/s of zen solo hashlet But it is now time for me to realize either this coin does not interest the masses or they are not interested in me leading. I also need to cut my losses and start to recoup my losses from trying to develop coins. I know this will make many of you upset and you will lose money because of this. I am truly sorry for this.

I guess I'm forgetting one thing: Decentralized.

So long as the github stays and forks proper. Nothing to worry about Smiley

FVAiSujNZVgYSc27t6zUTWoKfAGxYNNV3W is provably a Firecoin address with no private key that converts from Base58Check to hex: fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Send FIRE to that address to permanently remove it from circulation Smiley

Tom14 you worked hard at this coin, you tried to keep working at it for much longer than I could, it is true that I coded the in wallet trading feature and lost interest pretty much after that, it gained us nothing - at that point in time if we had gained more support I would have continued to enhance the wallet as best I could. From a programming perspective I was working on FIRE all hours, and to see no impact after all those hours pretty much summed it up for me, it was a waste of time.

Tom14 remains with his credibility intact and he should move on to better things.

Sorry to see you go, Tom. I hope you don't leave off developing and promoting coins, as you've done some pretty cool shit. Catch me on Skype, we'll talk. I have ideas you might be interested in.

Saddened to hear that tom is going to leave the coin behind.  I had just read through an interesting thread yesterday and was going to make a suggestion to completely "revamp" the coin to change it to be a very high PoS coin even though it would be controversial.  I had never really considered those coins before but after reading through the thread I've completely changed my point of view on them.  A very high PoS would sort of fit with "Fire", i.e. the Roi is "on fire" lol

It would require a hard fork, but it's seriously only a couple of lines of code.

Yes, I would be interested in helping to do this. I am not a dev though, but have other skills I think could be put to good use to help fire out.

Yes, let's do this. My ideas are below which will require a hard fork.

Increase interest to 10% - not too high and not too low.
Have another POW phase for 100k coins for total to ~200k - Will increase FIRE awareness and get miners involved
Have marketing campaign alongside phase 2 POW stage - twitter, facebook, exchanges, etc.
Wallet upgrades - not too much here but maybe update wallet splash screen and wallet background...ideas???

Any other ideas??

Skype me. I sent you my skype name in pm a couple days ago. I have some ideas, and am interested in doing this, though I have massive time constraints. I would like to talk to the people interested in forming a team.
