I do have a working copy of firecoind running on a cloud server for https://firecoindice.kranzworthmedia.com/ .. Any ideas as to what other services could be done there would be appreciated. Smiley

ok so what does everyone propose that we do. We have several people that are willing to provide work/services to get firecoin back in action. Let's come up with a solid plan of attack and initiate it.

A ripple or stellar gateway would be an idea to allow it to be traded against other assets. ie. Bitstamp BTC.

So is a revival coming about? I will help where I can.

It all depends on the community & previous dev/promoter, sent a few PM's & also skype'd with no reply Undecided Just wanted to post an updated OP, since it's been my updates for months now & trying to help those who bought in on the launch doesn't look like it's going to happen Undecided Just have to wait & see, I'm sure they didn't just leave the coin & have some kind of master plan going on in the background Undecided

Brainstorm: Posting a new crypto on bitcointalk here isn't always the way to go .. I think with the activity the firecoin wallet has already processed you can say now that the protocol works. Marketing it as a conduit of trade to actual industry movers of say, propane, as a certain unit value of that to represent their internal balances with each other might be a better approach. Of course this would require personnel with the right soft skills of interaction with the industry heads to make this work. I think with that spectrum of idea in mind it might be at least a guide for what to aim for.

Is anyone getting 40k+ blocks when it should be 26382? I've blocked all peers from my node that report more than 40,000.

No, I have not had this problem. My wallet works flawlessly. I am on block 26504 as of now. Very strange that you are having that happen. Don't know why that would be.

I'm not a new developer, been watching FIRECOIN since the launch & started helping Tom14Cat14 with the ANN months ago. He has been unwilling to reply to any messages via here or Skype, so little I'm able to do without access to the website/twitter/reddit/etc... Starting new accounts would just be a waste of time & I will just keep an updated OP (ANN) for the community. The website is still up, some of the info is still useful & not sure who has access to update it? Just going to have to wait & see, thinking that someday I'll get a reply Undecided

I will add it, but looks quite outdated & not very active? None of the translation threads are up to date, sure that Tom14Cat14 paid bounties for a few one time posts? He really did try very hard to gain a good community around FIRE (starting other coins could have been his mistake), but sometimes in business you pay for a one time job that falls apart the next day, then have to pay again just to fix said issues. Things are starting to get better with developers giving bounties (contracts, Etc...), the just send & not actually double checking the work is the biggest mistake most developers make! Would you pay someone to paint your house after the first coat, when it takes a minimum of 3 coats? What's to stop them from just leaving after getting paid & only doing 33.3% of the work?

Ok, well just spent hours upon hours of looking into it & the wallet will sync (with good nodes). It does appear to have more than one chain, seeing the blocks jump can only mean that someone is mining on another chain/fork Huh I would say that someone with a little more experience will have to look @ it, good thing there's no exchange Cool Also not sure if they're able to merge it with this chain @ any point in time, really good thing there's no exchange!

**Updated the nodes in the revision of the optional OP**

~~Let's use the term broken or in need of repair, not DEAD & then crypto can be something worth the change Wink~~

Didn't mean to sound so harsh, just pissed that such a great coin (syncs awesome, wallet is fantastic, etc.) won't sync for me. Been trying to get it to sync so I can stake to keep chain moving. I wish I had the skills needed to help this out, but I don't. Thanks for updating nodes. Will add to my conf file.

It's not you, just seeing the term being thrown around in the forum on several threads is all Wink Just like most on here, I started with ZERO knowledge (aside from almost a decade of hardware) & learned that there's always a way to fix something broken. Most people don't see what is being built here (crypto in general) & with all the coins (applications) out now, there's more work in the world than ever before Cool
