http://build-a-co.in

Build-a-Coin is yet another automated altcoin creation service, but with an emphasis on speed.

Set a wide array of parameters to your liking, hit go and a tarball of your new coin starts downloading immediately.

It's up to the user to compile, run, and bootstrap their coin; it's really not terribly newb friendly in that way, but the coins are fully functional unless you pick insane parameters.

Lastly, it's free software under the AGPL: http://git.shick.in/buildacoin

enjoy!

Finally! We now will have more shitty altcoins flooding the forums. Such a valuable contribution to the bitcoin community.
Just kidding, well I am half kidding. Its a very good program by the way, and it doesn't cost anything.

Holy crap!

Thanks for this, I was wondering how I'd have to create my own (Not for retarded alt spamming and so) for other things, but I'm happy to see one of these in existence.

However, after creating a test coin (Promptly named testcoin) I wasn't able to figure out exactly how to open the qt, set up a node, etc. I'm still looking into guides, but I'd like anyone's advice as to what I can do differently.

Any suggestions? I get the files downloaded after pressing "go", where do I go from there?

No I don't want to make alts to pump n dump, just curious.

Skepticism is of course healthy, but since the service produces only the source code for the coin rather than binaries, it's trivial to compare it to the litecoin source the generated coins are derived from and see that only the requisite tweaks are made.

Additionally the service is open source if anyone were of the mind to look through it.

Broken code is of course a possibility, but I have tested coins it produces.

The downloaded files are just the source code; it's up to you to compile the programs and get everything set up.  I realize that's no easy task for a lot of people, but building in the compilation process would keep the service from being instant.

I'm figuring out how this works, don't worry.

Now, how can I be sure it's safe as well?

I do like the explanation you gave, however, and a check does pretty much appear equal to Litecoin... But I'll do virus scans to be sure. So far nothing has gone sour, but you can never be sure.

You can never be sure; you'll just have to vet it to your own satisfaction.

For what it's worth, I also have a long and active history on reddit http://reddit.com/u/zagaberoo and a bunch of other open source projects.

lol, if someone can't get a wallet to compile, he clearly shouldn't try to make a coin...  Grin

i think this is the main point actually.. if you are not able to write/read code.. how the hell do you want to fix/improve it? isn't that stupid? why don't you just learn to code?

Exactly anyone who wants to create a coin should know basics in coding/programming.
