I just started lending and I think I got burned already

So I added iluvbitcoins on skype

the next day after the initial loan he contacted me for another loan of 0.2BTC

at first I was suspicious and of course did not want to loan him, after talking around an hour with him and he showed me a pic of his miners but he needs PSU (I asked him to call me and show them over skype, which he did)

as he said he was in debts and will return the loan by mining the first 11 days for me, I decided to loan him

this is our skype conversation

http://pastebin.com/hqh8cLeq

Quote
[16:28:30] larra dutta: and i can start mining in 2 hours at ur pool and at ur address

it's 21:59 now

do you think there's a chance he'll pay back?  Undecided

With my salary I need to work 15 days to earn that amount of money back Sad

As payment he should point miners to your pool.
This way you will get what's yours.

yes, that's what he said

that's why I loaned him

I'm not saying he's a scammer, there's still  time

He just didn't answer me, he said he'll start mining in 2 hours and those 2 hours passed 2 hours ago, he didn't come online since the loan
You said taht you will use his account on BTCtalk as collateral. Did he gave you his usenrame and password already?
You changed the pass?
You havent seen him online on skype or BTCtalk?
It is really possible that he scammed you selling his account to you for 0.2 BTC.
If so there is nothing more, but leave this account and may be sell it when price of BTC or BTC accounts goes up.
Sorry if you lose money, but really next time do not trust as much as you do it now.
BR
Gondel

the account was collateral for the initial 0.03BTC loan

he later asked me for a new loan of 0.2BTC with no collateral
but he showed me the miners over skype saying he needs the money to pick up the PSU so he can start mining

I loaned him 0.2BTC

now he came back online, pointed 1 miner at my pool&account doing around 500 ghs, he said he needs 0.2BTC more for the second miner

I sent him that too, he said he'll be back online in 20 minutes

again now it's around 4 hours since he said that

the first miner also stopped hashing

this is the skype conversation for the new loan..

http://pastebin.com/KXEhGKtG

The first time he didn't come online because apparently his connection died

I hope that it happened again instead of him scamming me for 0.43BTC

as I said, his member account is worth 0.05BTC

I loaned him 0.03BTC with the account as collateral
And later on 0.4BTC (0.2 x 2) for the PSU

It never occurred to you that he can simply switch back to his own pool on a whim? Mining contract when he is in physical control of the miner and all the settings is not collateral.

Man.. 0.43 is bigger than my monthly revenue  Undecided

I started using bitcoin in August last year

so it took me 11 months to earn 1.4 bitcoins (the amount I had before this)

1/3 of that I lost now if he doesn't show up  Undecided

It never occurred to you that he can simply switch back to his own pool on a whim? Mining contract when he is in physical control of the miner and all the settings is not collateral.

I said it was a no collateral loan

I fell for his story

he said that he already ows his father, has no friends, we skyped so I saw his miners

I really thought he wouldn't scam me, it would take only some 11 day to mine back the loan

I thought it was realistic that he wouldn't scam me  Undecided

Guess I'm to new to lending and that 95% of the people here will try to scam you and say anything to do so..

Errr I hate to say it but I really don't think he is coming back...I just read the whole story and you really gotta see that one coming....When they first get a little loan they are just trying to build up your trust and then coming back and asking for more (twice)  you gotta put up some red flags man!  Hope you learn though from here on out...get some collateral next time, I mean you wouldn't go into a mall and hand $260 dollars to a stranger and tell them you will be right back would you?

It sucks pretty hard

I should of bought a laptop
Didn't want to because I didn't want to spend my coins

And now I lose them for nothing like this..

if of course he doesn't respond..

I said it was a no collateral loan

I fell for his story

he said that he already ows his father, has no friends, we skyped so I saw his miners

I really thought he wouldn't scam me, it would take only some 11 day to mine back the loan

I guess I just have a too big heart

To do such a thing is unspeakable to me, so I assume it isn't so normal for someone else to do it so easily and to put so much effort in the story, especially when it wouldn't be that hard to pay the loan back, it's only 11 days..

I'm too honest for this business

I think I'm going to retire from lending..

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I just realized his skype name is "larra dutta"

he said he's from India..

googled it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_Dutta_Bhupathi

he said he was male, when I asked isn't that a female name, he said that his name is larry but it was taken or something like that

I guess he ain't coming back  Cry

You had every sign and every warning right in front of your face, yet you ignore it. Take a look at the OP's profile, he comes here for the sole purpose for gambling and games. How do you ignore this fact? I pointed this out in the first page, the least you could have done is verify it. Mining contract is no collateral, as pointed why earlier. In several other threads, you asked for people's account as collateral, and I already warned against it and gave reasons why this is a terrible idea.

Really, this should have been your mistake to eat and learn. But fortunately for you, a very nice guy decided to take the hit for you.

@ BiPolarBob - someday, your generosity will be returned in far greater ways. I've left you feedback for this act of kindness.

you said that after the loan was set, I canceled the deal with seandaniel after reading what you wrote Wink

the account was only used as collateral for the first 0.03 loan

the others I sent because I saw his antminers, he turned on one for a while which mined for me
but as soon as I sent the money for the PSU of the other miner he disappeared

If you knew his account is worth only ~0.03 - 0.05, why would you loan him 10x the amount? Even if he repaid the first tiny amount, it doesn't change the fact that he's still a gambler. Why would he return your large (relatively speaking) loan when he can just easily make another account, or buy a similar one for much cheaper?

Personally if this was me, I'd take it as lesson learned rather than let someone else take the fall for me. I would have sent that amount back to BiPolarBob.
