can i use extra gpu for display functions???

hi. my english sucks, but hop you will understand what i mean. i have hd 5970 and old ati x1300/x1550 series ( windows recognise like that). is any chance use both of them? hd5970 foer bitcoin,  next one for display. it should be like no lag when mining bitcoins. but... for some reason not working for me. windows shows error, something with drivers. did any one tried that??
 my spec:
  win7 x64 (ati 11-3, 2.4)
  evga 680i (have 3x pci-e)
  hd5970 (connected to bot pci-e)
  x1300/x1550 (connected to top pci-e (yes, monitor connected to this card and display works only that way)
  750w termoltake
  asus u3s6 (connected to mid pci-e)
  lancool case (not enoth room to connect hd5970 to mid pci-e)
