Hey guys, I'm looking at this power supply on newegg to snag during the bitcoin promo. The plan is to have it to power 3 Antminer S3's, standard clocking. I'm wondering if anyone has used this power supply, and if you think it can handle the job? I fail to see why its a whopping 30-100$ cheaper than all the other PSU's of that caliber I am finding. Thoughts? Edit: Here is the link, this is why we don't post right before bed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152045&cm_re=1200w_psu-_-17-152-045-_-Product

If it's a multi-rail PSU,you could have problems pushing it to its limits

You need to look at the efficiency of the PSU and whether it is multi rail or single rail (although most multi rail psus are quite okay for antminers).
Finally, most PSU manufactureres offer a warranty which would cover defects within a certain time.

Actually multi rail is much better then single rail.

Go for a server PSU and a breakout board its a lot cheaper and more reliable..
iff got an IBM server PSU 2kW (could handle up to 200A @ 12V i have read without breaking a sweat) for less then $ 60,- including shipping from USA to EU. breakout board another 50 or 60..
so if the PSU breaksdown you simply swap it without messing with all the wireing

I would not buy that Raidmax because it is sh*t and it is not gold at all... also I saw a couple of them caught on fire... I would recommend this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104142 excellent power supply with long cables and very quiet, i used couple of these on my gpu rigs and now two of them are in antminer s2... so choice is yours but do not try to save money on PSU because down the road you are only have problems...

Actually multi rail is much better then single rail.
For it's intended use in PCs arguably but for most mining setups all it causes is headaches with load balancing.

FYI, that PSU is only rated for 1020w on the 12v rail. So you're not going to be able to run 3 AntMiner S3's on it. Not even close. You'll get 2.

It's made by 5th tier manufacturers and uses the crappiest components. A Seasonic designed 900W PSU would be able to put out more power reliably than that thing. When the Raidmax hits full load it has all kinds of nasty power ripple and overheats - if you run it in any place hot it will fail in an hour.
