http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/07/22/bitbeat-bitcoin-price-curiously-gets-no-boost-from-dell-news/

- After last week’s news that Dell would start taking bitcoin as payment on its website, bitcoins prices did…nothing. This was surprising to a few folks, us included, seeing as adoption by major retailers has been one of the big signposts of mainstream acceptance. Even the Misesians over at CoinBrief contend that big news is the biggest mover of the price. “The most influential actions have large impacts on the bitcoin price, so the most important pieces of news are those that cover major players in the bitcoin community or cover breakthroughs—or setbacks—in mainstream adoption.”

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

Frankly I've been sort of surprised bitcoin hasn't started rising pretty quickly myself.  One thing's for sure, I'm expecting bitcoin to surprise the crap outta me when it does decide to go one way or the other Smiley

Is this good news, in a way? A volatile currency is a volatile currency, it doesn't matter if prices are increasing or decreasing, right? Bitcoin manages to stay around 600 mark despite all these big businesses accepting it... nah who am i kidding, it should have increased a little.

I've bought and sold BTC maybe 50 times.

Curiously, the timing of my decisions has always been based on my personal circumstances, and never the latest news. Cheesy

What it is is we've had a massive increase in volume compared to the days when it was hitting $1000, so it's a lot more difficult to manipulate the market and so you'd have to have some serious buyers coming in to make the price move as it did before now, hell as people were saying ages ago, things might actually start getting stable depending on what happens because of how many people are getting into Bitcoins.

I must admit it is both surprising and dissapointing that the price hasnt budged. It never seems to go up when we see good news but it almost certainly goes down when we get some bad news. Makes me wonder what it will actually take to get the demmand increasing again.

Now that I think about it I'm kind of glad bitcoin price hasn't exploded yet.  Gives me a chance to try and get my hands on one or two more before it does :-)
