dead or not, I am currendly having great fun mining it by just using the wallet. It makes about 15 Texas per hour. And taking accout, that I have always 6 or more peer connections, wich is unusual for such a low networkhashrate, i would assume, that I am not the only one. Because this is a great opportunity for beginners to experience some kind of "retro-bitcoin-feeling" i will now give a short description on how to do it and ask the "pro's" to restrict themself not to instamine this one (for now it has zero value anyway). I am sure our market would highly benefit, having more newbie-opportunitis like that.
here it goes (I tryed to take in account all things that could go wrong for a newbie and hope its bulletproof):
1) install the walletsoftware
2) start it and then close it again
3) go to the datadirectory (on Windows something like /user/yourname/APPdata .../texascoin )
4) create a textfile in that directory named texascoin.conf
5) put following into the textflile:
rpcuser=CHOOSEaNAME
rpcpassword=CHOOSEaPASSWORD
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1,*
rpcport=21034
port=11034
gen=0
server=1
listen=true
genproclimit=-1
addnode 128.199.165.180:11034
addnode 188.226.248.45:11034
6) open the wallet again an wait untill it (important) finished syncing (see on the right bottom corner)
7) close the wallet and open the textfile again
change gen=0 to gen=1
9) open the wallet again and encrypt it via the settings menu (the wallet will have to restart) choosing YOUR-ENCRYPTION-PASSWORD
10) go to "help" and open the debugwindow, then choose the "Konsole" tab
11) now enter "walletpassphrase YOUR-ENCRYPTION-PASSWORD 999999" and press enter
10) now enter "setgenerate true -1"
11) after a minute control your success by typing getmininginfo
12) if you type "help" you get a bunch of funny commands to play around with
have fun
