Spotify pays for the rights to songs. Some of the the ad revenue you generate, and the money from your premium subscription go towards music artists.

Yes I know that. But I have spotify without ads and I did not purchased premium or pay for anything. So I refer to it as free music because it is uninterrupted streaming service without ads or others annoying things.
