Was I perma banned? I don't see a time frame (14 day, 30 day, etc), so I think it must be. Cry

Admittedly I realized my account had a relatively low post count but likely would have a lot of activity if I posted more. So I was trying to get the activity up to join a signature campaign. It doesn't say "spam" but it's the only thing I can think of.

Anyway, thanks for any information... Undecided

Yes, it's probably a permaban but without giving the account name nobody can check.

Yes, I think that is what a perma ban is

If you need support for AutoPonzi contact: autoponzi@gmail.com
We aren't sure how long the ban is for. We aren't even sure why we are banned. But we'll try figure it out

Depends what you see in the next line.

If it is reason: spam/wharever(x days) , its temporary for x days

If its: you can appeal your ban at email: banappeals@theymos.com , is a permament one

EDIT: if there is no second line, then its weird and you are right to ask. You can PM some staff saying your nickname.

So what are the reasons which leads to a permanent ban? And do users get warning prior to the ban telling them to stop doing whatever it is they're doing which could lead to a permanent ban?

Reasons for temp ban: forum spam, too much posts not related to topic, too much insubstancial posts, etc..

Reasons for perma ban: that being your second temporary ban, being a bot or acting like one, spread malware across the forum, try to compromise forum's security, and stuff like that

I see.. so temporary ban in itself is like a warning. Thanks for the clarification, really appreciate it.

I never knew what bans looked like on this forum. Do they ban you from posting? Or stuff like PMing? Or does it add an account limit like 360 seconds between posts. What would it take to get a complete restriction from signing in forever?

It essentially turns the forum into read-only. You can login, but can't post or send pm's (can read pm's). There is an option to not allow banned users to login at all (with that account anyway) but that's rarely necessary and not often done.

In extreme situations, could you do a full ip permaban to deal with a spammer who keeps creating new accounts? I would assume so.

It is done. Banned user's IP gets evil posts and need to pay to make accounts, also ban evasion will increase the ban of all accounts involved.

But there are billions of IPs around...

How does it apply to the people behind NAT box ? A handful of IPs are dynamically allocated to all those connecting through that NAT box. So one person's evil will affect another who has no remote linking to the other person !!!

Yes, but evil only plays a role if you want to make a new account, so this should never affect you personally. AFAIK evil also decays over time, so its not like IPs will get "blocked" by evil forever.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

I would add to permaban reason list: copying text from other sites without mentioning the source.
