Looks like nothing new is coming into place except that it is like scrypt-n. Just more memory intensive then regular scrypt. Did I miss something important here? I get that it's faster on GPU / CPUS then current scrypt implementations would be, but honestly all of the coins posted so far are next to worthless in the long run.

No it's not like scrypt-n its an improved version of scrypt that deals with some of the known vulnerabilities. Its what Scrypt should have been. Obviously Scrypt was good for when it was created. But this is a more modern approach that will allow coins to become ASIC resistant again. At least for now.

I've read the white paper its very good. And should be available soon.

AM I missing something or is the press release all that you linked. Is that considered the whitepaper? Idk, I'll be trying this algorithm and hopefully it brings new life to coins, but im skeptical.

I stopped reading when the PDF referred to "ASIC" as Application Specific Integrated Chip.

reading further, it sounds like this is a reduced memory version of Scrypt Jane. that is to say, the scratchpad size in bytes is halved. we'll see when it
s all said and done whether this is anything new.

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.

I guess it's better to keep the discussion in a single thread.
