It honestly hasn't when I think about it. Got the idea from this article: http://www.panture.com/black-market-fully-utilized-bitcoin/

Basically, the drug business is HUGE. And that's only a part of the black market, (albeit a large part) imagine if drug cartels realized the benefits to using bitcoin. Nobody could steal their money if they secured their private keys well, nobody could rob em. If they disperse the earnings, it would be hard to trace em too. Once they start recognizing bitcoin for what it can do, an 8B market cap will be nothing in terms of whats to come.

If I was a local drug dealer, I'd accept bitcoin if I were given the chance. If law enforcement caught me, I could tear up any paper wallets I had on me. Once someone gives you the bitcoins, they can't turn around and try to scam you either. Opportunities for this are endless.

Well I assume that's why silk road used Bitcoin right?  and I know there are other sites like SR out there.  Interesting about local dealers using it, that's not a bad idea.  You could do it for gambling too, then you wouldn't have any records of taking and making bets, etc.

But the bad thing is that seriously, there are a lot of legitimate uses for it Smiley because if only it's used for drugs etc. and especially if the cartels get involved then you'll see a Bitcoin crackdown.

That's the reason. Because not everyone has or accepts bitcoin, the dealers would have to use an exchange, and this means being registered because of AML.

although the message i am about to write might be against a few peoples personal uses of bitcoin. which is your personal and private life, i would prefer that we leave FIAT for the drugs/war industry. and continue to make bitcoin the money of real people.

letting the government and drug cartels to fight themselves over who holds the most FIAT, leaving us normal folk free to use bitcoin on the normal lifestyle stuff. let them seize fiat bank accounts of drug lords, let them seize bank notes. lets just not make it our personal problem

i know silkroad has had a past with bitcoin, but it was just a drop in the pond compared to the FIAT drug business. so as long as bitcoins doesnt go back to that darker path with any larger scale then it has. we can do something good with bitcoin.

if your a drug user that would prefer to get your local neighborhood dealer to offer bitcoins before preferring to get your local gas station or 7-11/ walmart to accept bitcoin. then its time to realise that drugs are more important to you then food, car fuel or clothing.. and you should deal with that problem

(expecting rebuttals)
1. i said "any larger scale" because i know it will continue to be used for darker uses, but lets not bring back the bad propaganda of being the main use, not again, not after we got so far already on the legit merchant adoption and proper legit innovation.

2. i know the freedom of bitcoin means the freedom of anyone using it for anything. but actually pleading to drug cartels to offer bitcoins is just foolish and reckless
