Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

These stats are from a Forbes article from earlier this year:

--There are (or were in January) approximately 12,000,000 bitcoins mined
--47 people own 29% of the coins.
--930 people own 50% of the coins.
--approximately 10,000 people own 75% of the coins
--approximately 1,000,000 own the rest

I'm sure the numbers could be disputed, but close enough for rounding.  At that time, anyway, that meant 1,000,000 people owned 25% of 12,000,000 coins, or 3,000,000 coins.  That's an average of 3 coins per person, if you're not in the top 1%.

In fact, forget about the 1%.  If you're not in the 930 people (not many of them on this board, and if they are here, they likely won't answer), which is 0.093%, the average is only six coins.

Somehow, I suspect there will be much rounding UP, WAY UP in this thread.

I'm trying to accumulate bitcoins since I'm not an early adopter and don't have much money to invest.
I just hope to guess the top of the next bubble's peak to make some, but I know it's pretty hard...

I don't get to answer the poll?? This shit sucks

I can't either, why is that?

Also, there are gaps in the poll. Someone owning 5.5 BTC has nowhere to go.

Ha, nice try IRS trying to getting to know the amount of my BTC stash Cheesy I mean if you have < 1 BTC you may talk about it I guess, but if you really do have a crap ton, I wouldn't necessarily brag about it.
