In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Money from western worlds reaches the highest utilization when taken to a 3rd world country. If you use the 1BTC to buy medical supplies or even just just potable water for people in war torn regions of African continent you would probably get the most bang for your buck. You would have to convert the 1BTC to fiat though as the charities that do take BTC don't do that work.
I used to do medical missions but I had to take a break because of my kids. Hopefully in a couple years I'll be able to get back to it.

Nah, Red Cross while having good intentions could only buy 100 blankets or 100 meals with that. Something like this http://thewaterproject.org/ or this http://www.charitywater.org/ would help more people.

Why Avaaz should accept Bitcoin donations Bitcoin and crypto currencies are the only neutral transparently auditable currencies, transaction fees are lower so more funds go directly to the causes you donate to. In fact votes should be added to the blockchain providing an indelible record that those to whom it it is presented cannot ignore. Bitcoin is the most effective way of gaining back power to the people and stopping oppressive governments or subversive corporate interests. See: - Bitcoin vs. Political Power: The Cryptocurrency Revolution - Stefan Molyneux at TNW Conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joITmEr4SjY"He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past." - George Orwell. The Blockchain will record history going forward and in so doing it will free society from its "chains". Viva the blockchain Viva! From the ashes rises the Phoenix. https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Avaazorg_Avaaz_should_accept_Bitcoin_donations/?nLobecb

How many people do you have in your immediate family, i.e., husband/wife and/or children? Because those are the people you should use that money to help first and foremost. Maybe your kids need new clothes or shoes for school. Put the monetary value of the 1 BTC into a college fund. Buy emergency supplies like candles, batteries, flashlights, dried/canned foods with long shelf lives, water and water purification devices. You never know when an emergency situation may arise where you will need to rely on these kinds of things. Maybe it's just me, but my number one priority is and always will be my family... not someone else's kid(s) in some other country where I have no proof at all that the money I would send them in aid would ever in fact get to them or be used for them.

Start with the people you see everyday, in a bus, subway, etc. When you get involve, face to face, instead of sending money to some far out place you will never set foot in your life, your donation will have more meaning to you and to them. And give that 0.05 btc to those who deserve the most, not us with electricity and high speed connection... We don't need it.

There is a really high chance of your sum not reaching the poor if you're paying through a large organization such as Red Cross, etc. Have you tried looking through the list of donation-accepting websites? https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Donation-accepting_organizations_and_projects
Or better yet, use that 1 BTC to buy several meals at Subway on several occasions and give it to the homeless around the corner.

I am fortunate enough to have family that don't require my financial assistance. I am a single female professional and am able to handle my own and at the same time am able to help a random stranger or two. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=295211.0I have decided to donate to Seans Outpost for helping the homeless. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Many people, you could help the people for 0 BTC .. just time and energy You can send people of the world some BTC, but quality of life is not always correlated with that. Here is a list of countries by gdp https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29_per_capita

If I get 1 BTC ($580) from somewhere for free, then I'll donate it to Survival International for the protection of uncontacted tribal people in the Peruvian Amazonia region. The natives there are being massacred by the illegal loggers and drug traffickers. http://www.survivalinternational.org/tribes/isolatedperu

Find a charity that is helping to give communities water or medicine in the third world. I'd recommend donating to a christian charity simply due to the potential for corruption being slightly lower.

Before giving to a charity you should do your best to assess how effective they are. While Gaza charities are worthy and it's certainly a hot topic, it is likely that you can do more good by donating to a different charity. This organisation does a lot of work to establish the most effective charities to donate to: http://www.givingwhatwecan.org/If you have time, have a read through their assessments otherwise you can view their top charities here: http://www.givingwhatwecan.org/top-charities

Use it to pay for a Doctor's flight to a developed country where that Doctor would spend a month or so providing medical care to local, impoverished people.
$580 isn't much, but it would get a very qualified person with literally "life saving skills" to people that need those skills the most.
I'd donate it to Doctors without Borders.

My honoust opinion is that you can better keep the 1 BTC and save it as a long time investment, if you really want to spend it, go buy and invest in green energy like solar panels or something like that, that way you would help the nature in some ways.
Please don't put your money in some sort of foundation to "help" 3th world country's, most of the money is used to fund civil wars if not for the foundation owners.
