I have this same power supply. It's been good to me, but I haven't pushed it to the limits of its 750W max. Corsair builds a good unit, and I don't think you will hurt anything trying it out, but I would personally feel more comfortable with a 800W+ unit. Just make sure to watch temps on the PSU, good luck!

The problem is, it only comes with 2 pcie power cables. Each cable has 2 connectors, but that still means you would be carrying the load of 2 S3 blades over 1 cable. This is no worse than what KNC requires with the Neptune, but I would imagine the cables could get a little hot. The safest bet would be to find someone who makes cheap aftermarket pcie cables for the corsair 750m and buy 2 more.

basically, it would mean almost exactly the equivalent of 2 S1 on one CX750. When I tried this, CX750 was working, but was making a loud noise, so I skipped it. Forget about any overclocking too. Two CX750, however should be able to run 3 S3, though-this is what I did with S1 for 3 mo without any problem whatsoever, just remember to NOT connect a single blade (side) to two different power supplies (it is OK to connect one blade of S3 to one PSU, and another blade to a second PSU).

Thanks for the replies... I was thinking about going with the corsair hx850 but I saw Dogie's guide and his rating for it was in the 60's.. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=486121What would be recommended for a setup of 4 s3's? (the idea WAS 2 cx750m's to power 4 s3's... but thats out the window now) maybe 1 cx430m for every s3? (just an idea) good? bad?

If not, then CX500M per each is probably the cheapest with coupon, but only 2 connectors per PSU. I wouldn't order 430, though. Order with M moniker or you will have a multitude of cables attached, which makes it a mess. If you want overclocking options I would go with two CX750M (2 cables with 4 connectors for eachPSU, so 8 connectors for two) and one EVGA1300 (6 cables with 8 connectors). This way, you are set for overclock. If you think that you would overclock some, but not all, get one CX750 and one EVGA1300, which can run 2 overclocked or three non-overclocked.

Dogie's prices are a little out of date. You can get a 1300G2 for $160 after rebate on Amazon right now. A single 1300G2 can handle 3 S3's. The EVGA 1000G2 can safely handle 2xS3's. There is an EVGA 850G2 that Dogie does not have posted that *might* be able to handle 2xS3's. But I cannot confirm that for you. Also consider that getting an 80Plus GOLD rated PSU will save at least 5-6% watts at the wall vs an 80Plus BRONZE rated PSU. And please don't get a PSU that isn't 80Plus rated, or it may not survive the 2-6 month profitable life of the miner.

nice... I'm in a country that is not very accessible to such electronics ("3rd world"), so I have to keep in mind a few factors when purchasing, since it will take while to replace items that go bad, if I'm able to at all. (eg if a PSU funks out on me can the other(s) handle the load of an additional miner) Watts isn't a big deal where I am, cheap

So, 4 is an awkward number of miners to buy PSU's in a configuration suitable for that type of an over-build, without just ordering a 5th PSU to keep as a spare. If it were 6 miners, you'd say buy 3 1300's, and if one goes bad, 2 1300's can still handle 6xS3's. However keep in mind it is possible to run one miner from 2 separate PSU's, as long as they are going to separate blades on the miner. So, what you could do, is buy four quality 750w PSU's (make sure they have 4xPCIe cables each), then you have plenty to overclock them all safely. Then, if 1 PSU goes bad you should be OK to run 3xS3 from 2x750w PSU at least at stock speed, or maybe with a small overclock.

I'm a bit reluctant about forking out more than the cost for four s3's and the PSU's(+misc)

You can run 1.5 S3(3 blades) on a CX750m. If you already own them, this works. If not, there are probably better options.
I run 3 S3's on 2 750cxm's, by connecting 3 blades I get 570watts per PSU measured at the PDU.
Yes, there are only 4 PCI-e connectors, I don't notice much heat on the cables that are double plugged.

I'd rather use a 1000 W PSU to avoid overheating and many other problems. If you don't have enough PCI Express connectors, I suggest you to get another PSU.

I've read some saying "yes", some saying "no" and some saying 'its risky'... thanks I advice you to ignore your though to run two Antminer S3 in Corsair CX750M. Even thought the S3 is rated at 340, you should add a factor of safety to it. Normally sizing a power supply can be done by making the load as 125% of the rated. Here 340*1.25 = 425Watts. So find out a power supply which gives 425Watts or atleast 34A in a single +12V rails. In any case the CX750M is a big NO for 2 Antminer S3 even though you can run.
