I just wait until the need gets too high. I switch when the old phone becomes too slow because the latest OS or Apps get too demanding. I don't need the latest craze, only a decently working phone!

I have had my phone for 2 years now. Earlier I changed every two years, however this time I won't change until it gets unusable, and it still works good.

I change to a new phone every 2-3 years.

The older my phone is, the better quality it was. My first phone lasted 3 years. I used my current phone for 5 years, switched to another, then that broke after a year. I switched back to this one and have been using it for another 3 years. I hate new phones -- planned obsolescence at work. Wink

I really don't buy that theory. I mean the theory of planned obsolescence. When it comes to printers or other equipment, for example: You used to pay a crap ton for the devices 10 or 20 years ago. The actual amount of money that went into the electronics and intricate stuff was still a lot. Now, the electronics, parts, etc. get cheaper every day. So the quality of the cases goes down (margin is shrinking). That way every part of a device needs to become cheaper. The quality suffers.

Not too regularly. Unless the previous one breaks or is completely unusable,I don't see the point of purchasing a new one every now and then, especially for basic feature users.

Well I would change it every 3-4 years, but somehow it always takes me a year or two after that to actually posses it...
At that you could say it's broken.

I need a new phone every couple months. I live a very dangerous and active life, so my phone has to withstand a lot of things including, but not limited to: Shocks (physical, as well as electrical), water, dust, molten iron, sand, boiling oil. Even the sturdy iPhones can't stand those things forever...

I had my first phone (Nexus S) for more than 3 years. Not a scratch or a dent.
