Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Why specifically could you not find a seller on localbitcoins?  There are dozens and dozens of sellers that take everything from WU to PayPal to cash in person.  I can understand if there is nobody near you to do a face-to-face cash transaction but there are many that will take cash directly into their bank account, cash in the mail, etc. etc.

What exactly are you looking for?

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

I'm probably searching wrong on localbitcoins. What I have seen on there is a lot of price gouging. Face to face transactions is out of the question, no one near me. I can do paypal... I will search again on localbitcoins

I run Bitcoin-Brokers which has a review thread with over 50,000 views, and hundreds of comments, found here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237164.0

I can arrange a simple cash deposit at a Bank of America for you tomorrow if you wish. Bitcoin will be in your wallet the same day. No sign ups, no ID collected.

Feel free to open a ticket through the help desk at www.Bitcoin-Brokers.org and I will be happy to explain everything there for you.

I get the impression he is not in the US.

I also thought that www.Bitcoin-Brokers.org only operated in the US?  Am I misinformed?

I was going to suggest www.Bitcoin-Brokers.org but then did not due to him not being in the US.

Since there is so much fraud when people buy using PayPal you will be charged a LOT if you use PayPal.  So, I suggest you use something other than PayPal.

What country are you in?

Currently I am traveling, in the Domincan Republic. Unfortunately there is no BoA here. One bank I have seen here that is in the states, if thats where you are, is Banco Popular...
Any other options?

Here, I narrowed it down for you:

LooknoFurther (100+; 100%)    Moneygram   622.40 USD   400 - 634 USD   Moneygram   Buy
easybtc116 (100+; 100%)    Moneygram   627.26 USD   300 - 314 USD   Moneygram   Buy

(just picked the two that had over 100 good trades).

Or

BTC-LA (70+; 100%)    Western Union   615.88 USD   500 - 557 USD   Western Union   Buy

If you can't get a Moneygram and need to use WU.

Santo Domingo is about a 3 hr drive from me, I'm in Santiago... I'm checking out the rest right now

I have had people drive that far to buy BTC from me.

I went to "buy bitcoins"

Then in the box for location I put "dominican republic"

Then I copy/pasted the results here.

Not sure why you would not get the same results as me.

Oh, I was logged into my account.  Don't know if it makes a difference if you are logged in or not.

@ BurtW - OP might not see all searches that you see because a lot of sellers post ads that don't allow newbies to purchase. Personally, all my sell ads on LBC are set this way too because they are a major headache to deal with. They either don't know how LBC works or can't follow directions, and somehow always mark "paid" without sending payment and locking up btc in escrow for days.

Totally understandable for remote sales.  I only do face-to-face cash so I don't really care if they are noobs.  In fact I have taken it on as one of my "duties" to properly introduce noobs to Bitcoin and make their first transaction a good, smooth, scam free educational experience.
