Payments company PayPal, a subsidiary of auction site eBay, hosted a bitcoin event called PayPal TechXploration on 31st July.

The ‘Town Hall’ space at the PayPal offices in San Jose, California, was packed with hundreds of people, many having to stand. The meetup page for the bitcoin event lists over 700 people that had indicated a desire to attend.

Sometimes I can't tell if Paypal is friendly or hostile to Bitcoin
Still if they are offering introductions to Bitcoin that is a good sign.

Explaining bitcoin to newcomers is not easy, especially with a large audience.
It definitely is not.

That said its good 1/3 tech people like it ^_^ high stat.
During his presentation, Robinson asked how many people at the event owned bitcoin, and about one-third of the audience raised their hands.

Well it's not a good sign when they say they investing interest into creating their own coin. Most eCommerce occur on their site on the Net.

Will we see a "Stellar" moving to PayPal because it's easier to identify the owner of the coin, with the requirement to identify yourself with FB?

When they give me back the thousands of dollars that they force me to pay them after I had already closed my paypal account - after admitting to me that that I had been frauded but since it was bitcoin they would not give me any protection, refusing to look at any evidence I gave them - maybe then they have a right to use the word bitcoin.

I am really sorry you lost so much, and there is nothing good/great to say about Paypal, but...
Using Paypal for a significant amount of BTC is a really bad decision and (also) was probably against their terms of service.

I remember the founder of Paypal saying that he wanted to invest in bitcoins when they become stable. Maybe it's a good sign that they are hosting the event or maybe it was an inadvertent kind of a relation with no connection at all to the intentions of the parent company,though that's extremely and highly unlikely.

I just don't believe that paypal in its current form would allow bitcoin payments. Paypal is famous for reversing payments. Unless they change the structure and make paypal payments non-reversible, I do not think they can or will formally allow using paypal to buy bitcoins.
