RT’s video agency producer kicked out of Ukraine
http://rt.com/news/177440-ruptly-producer-kicked-out-ukraine/

Quote
A producer for RT’s RUPTLY video agency has been ordered to leave Ukraine after local authorizes learned that she holds both American and Russian citizenships. The journalist says she has been forced out of the country because of her “Russian passport”.

...

Traffic on the major regional road has been halted for the past few days as local activists have been protesting against the mobilization of the Ukrainian army. They blocked the highway with benches, flowerbeds and vehicles, not letting any transport, except ambulances and emergency services, pass through.

RUPTLY’s producer has been at the scene with her equipment – camera and tripod which had labels of RT Ruptly.

According to RT’s official statement, one of the Ukrainian journalists, who was also working at the scene, noticed labels of RT RUPTLY and started questioning her and filming with his video camera. This attracted attention of other reporters, who called the police. Security forces arrived along with Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) representatives.

The Ukrainian journalists are currently more busy with spreading hate and acting as local snitches.
While SBU rounds up anyone who does not follow the rosy official line.

Note that she was filming in West-Ukraine.

Quote
Alina has been given until August 4 to leave the country. As she has told RT shortly after the incident, she hoped to catch a plane on Saturday morning and come home.

Eprimian explained she was covering a small protest in Western Ukraine, when another journalist noticed a little RUPTLY sticker on her camera and started shouting “you are Russia Today!” The crowd of around 7 journalists surrounded her and began asking questions.

Quote
Then, some 15 minutes later, “3 policemen came and three officials from the national security service of Ukraine.” Eprimian claims that after examining her documents, “they did not believe that [a copy of] my American passport was real.” The Ukrainian officials followed Eprimian to the hotel to examine the original document.

“I did not want to be questioned like that. I did not understand the reason for my questioning,” Eprimian says pointing out that overall the Ukrainian authorities acted “pretty civil.”

“At one point they did tell me that if I was not going to sit down, they were going to handcuff me to the chair,” when she tried to resist questioning, she added.

This is really bad news, we've seen for a long time that the freedom of the press is under attack. After all, Julian Assange is still stuck in an embassy.
I think this clearly indicates there's some guys in the west making big money from this war.

You haven't shown any logic to justify your conclusions.

I could counter your claim by saying "since some guys in Russia are losing a lot of money, obviously they must be desperate to stop those losses, using any means they can".
Sure, the Russian government can make financial benefit from this too. But, the average Greek or Irishman middle class really has no benefit from this war.

Sadly practices like this are commonplace in the eastern ex-USSR states, They usually just remove persona non gratas rather than
discredit themin various ways.

Might be that they are working like that simply out of habit?

And the missing reporter tuns up - arrested. Again. The term "aiding terrorists" is the new Western term for "investigative journalism"

Missing Russian reporter arrested, accused of 'aiding terrorists' in E. Ukraine
http://rt.com/news/179788-russia-photographer-arrested-ukraine/

Quote
Russian journalist Andrey Stenin, who went missing in eastern Ukraine last week, has been arrested by Ukraine’s security service, an adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said. The photographer is accused of aiding local militia.

“[Stenin] has been arrested by our security service. He was present at tortures and killings in Shakhtyorsk [a town in Donetsk region]. The photographs, first depicting a still living, wounded soldier, then the same soldier dead, have caused outrage around the world,” Geraschenko said, answering a question about the Russian photographer in an interview with Latvia's Baltkom radio.

Quote
The images Gerashenko was citing however show a living soldier. The same soldier is seen taken from the scene for medical assistance in a video published on YouTube. After the sixth minute the soldier can be seen talking as he is being prepared for surgery.

Quote
Accusations are 'artificial, ridiculous' - journalist's boss

RIA Novosti's general director, Dmitry Kiselyov, said that Kiev’s accusations were “artificial and ridiculous.”

“The good news is that Andrey is alive. The bad news is that the Ukrainian authorities confirmed after a week that he has been,” he added, saying that this time was presumably needed to make up a criminal case against the journalist.

“Andrey was doing [the same work] he had been doing earlier, particularly in Syria and Egypt. The only difference is the attitude toward journalists in Ukraine, which is much harsher, even brutal, than where Andrey worked earlier.”

Quote
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) voiced concern over the safety of the Russian photographer on Monday.

“If he has been detained in Ukraine then we appeal for whoever is holding him to release him immediately. He is a journalist, not a soldier, and as such is entitled to move freely and report the truth without the threat of intimidation, violence or detention,” said IFJ President Jim Boumelha, according to the organization’s statement.

The situation there is worse than in Iraq or Afghanistan. Which is logical considering the fact that terrorists are not running those countries like in "Ukraine".

The fact is that the Ukrainian army is targeting all those journalists who are not on their side. For example, Graham Philips (British national) was recently banned from entering Ukraine, after being arrested by the Ukrainian army.

Freed Crimean Journalists Say Stenin’s Fate Still Unknown
http://en.ria.ru/world/20140827/192384312/Freed-Crimean-Journalists-Say-Stenins-Fate-Still-Unknown.html
Quote
Recently freed Crimean journalists Yevgeniya Koroleva and Maxim Vasilenko said Wednesday that they tried to obtain some information about missing Rossiya Segodnya photographer Andrei Stenin (#freeAndrew) while being detained by Right Sector activists, but the militants said they did not know where he was.

Missing Russian journalist Andrey Stenin confirmed dead in Ukraine
http://rt.com/news/184232-russian-journalist-ukraine-dead/

Quote
“The car had been shot up and burnt on a highway in the vicinity of Donetsk,” he said in a statement. “The autopsy results came back this morning. He was indeed in that car – the 33-year-old young man, a brilliant professional, someone who cared.”

...

The unit that carried out the attack was also using a tank, according to the investigators.

More than 10 cars containing peaceful civilians had been shot up. The contents of the vehicles, including the civilians' belongings, had come into Ukrainian posession.

So the death toll so far: 5 Russian, 1 French and 1 Italian journalists.

Sad news.

As it was said before, many of the dead journalists were no strangers to hot spots, reporting from Iraq, Syria, Northern Africa, and yet they met their end in Ukraine.

Nothing new under the sun. All countries censor their news to certain extend.

For unfiltered news, check out wiki-leak.

Yeah but there is a major difference between "censor their news to certain extend." and kidnapping or killing journalists that are a pain in the ass for the government.

Censorship isn't always bad in itself. And most developped countries have some kind of censorship.
But abusing journalists... Well that's a different matter :/

Anyone that thinks reporters don't lie has been living in the closet too long, Most reporters only say what people will read doesn't matter if it's right just that people will read it.

In Ukraine has so much mess because of the endless lies. The government lied to its people for several years, but people continue to believe the whole. Media controlled the opinion of people like puppets. I hope someday the Ukrainians understand that we should not listen to their rotten leadership that has destroyed their country...

After the war began in Ukraine - the media lies every day. Ukrainians have to watch foreign TV channels to find out the truth. Government, through the media intentionally incites ethnic conflict

The truth is that ukrainians don't need media to find out the truth. For now over 300,000 man already served in conflict zone since 2014. Everybody have someone who was there and saw the truth. Don't believe stupid russian propaganda about civil conflict and other bullshit. They send troops there to kill ukrainians.
