This thread it meant to compile ideas relative to how to make HyperStake more than "a fun experiment on very high interest rate". The community is surprisingly dynamic and we believe it is time to think bigger.

"Development" means developing code, but also developing and awareness (advocacry) and developing confidence.

This post will be updated with latest ideas.

Why HyperStake? (a.k.a.: competitive advantages)
  • Reputable devs, David Latapie (Monero) and presstab (HBN, TEK, MINT), active development
  • Thriving community (the IRC channel DOES have traffic)
  • On top of the usual Windows, Mac and Linux, HyperStake also runs on Raspberry - the low consumption of a Raspberry makes it ideal for 24/7 staking wallets (securing network and compounding interests)
  • Inflation control
  • Wallet features: Stake for Charity from the get-go, conditionnal unlock ("unlock for mint) soon possible, improved coin control
  • Git-powered: sources, binaries and wiki on Github

How to have HyperStake prosper
  • "Liquidity virtuous circle" ("LVC"): Ensuring liquidity. Sell 25% of your stake every month and devote a part of your sales to create or reinforce a buy wall to enforce a floor price for the coin. When selling, avoid an abrupt dump, which would mainly profit a minority of strategic buyers instead of the crowd of casual buyers, the one that matter - instead, be patient, just place your order, forget it and check a bit later if it was fulfilled (then reinforce the buy wall). Blackcoin's BlackShield was supposed to be that, but with a 1% interest rate, it cannot work with even a portion of the same efficiency. Idea for a brandable name: HyperShield.
  • More giveaways and faucets, for more holders. Multiple faucets do not compete against each others, they complement each other. Faucets with mail notification (like Dogecoin does) would help spreading the wealth too
  • Educate people on PoS. The NOBL stake document is a good start. PoS coins requires more attention from the dev than PoW coins, because of the greater distrust toward interest rates. "When Bitcoin was first getting big around 2011, Gavin refilled the faucet every day. It ran out. He refilled it. That may not seem like much, but it made a huge difference. When people own something, even if it's just a few HYP, they will learn about it more, and do things to help, even if it's not completely profitable."
  • Find monetary use of high-PoS except for hoarding. For instance, buying real life product with the "magically replenishing" HyperStake fund

Good write up. Personally I don't sell 25% of my stake, and everyone should plan their investment strategies according to what they think is best for them. I am trying to compound in order to get the largest wallet.

New exclusive features scheduled:
- Wallet themes - CSS for your wallet
- The coin control is getting improved again and again:
-- age (there is 9 days before starting to accumulate coinage, so weight 0 doesn't mean a lot without an age column
-- select coins by amount, weight or age
-- wizard for optimising block size according to your habits
- Stake for charity on startup

Some other ideas being discussed

Market strenghtening bot
For HYP I was thinking about throwing a bot on the market that promotes market strength, instead of having one of those highest bid bots, or an arb bot that widens the spread. It would be a low profile bot that adds liquidity, instead of pissing everyone off.

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.
