I believe bitcoin.com sold in a private sale and the price was not disclosed.  Some domain sales are sold via some sort of auction but most are sold via private sales so there is no way to verify the sale price. 

The story about BTC.com originated from an email from the buyer so I don't think this was verified.

Well still a lot of money for a domain. Wonder if we in the wrong business here.

But this is a very competitive scene and it's a hit and miss, either you lucky or not. I have seen guys making their pension in spotting the right website and selling it to the right buyer at a huge profit.
