Personally I'm going to participate in this "experiment" as long as it works, but I wonder how others feel.

Do you try to obey all laws and regulations?

There are only four rules I try to absolutely follow in life, don't kill, don't hurt people, don't steal and don't commit fraud, the rest is just a waste of time, Bitcoin is just a set of numbers, it isn't a threat to anyone, banning it also won't be enforceable to begin with.

I think if it would ban it (the country) I'd be even more motivated to use it.

I follow the same rules, it's only common sense.

I would argue that bitcoin is a real threat to many circles starting with the banks.

I really don't see how my country can stop me to use Bitcoin.
They don't have control over Internet and of course they don't have control over Bitcoin Smiley

If they tried to ban it, it will probably gain so much attention that everyone will want some

Would you continue to use money if your country banned it?
Would you go back to bartering?

I would walk to the police station, confess to the crime of owning Bitcoin and share a cell with Bubba (convicted  murderers / pedophiles).

I would seriously consider banning my country from me.

If not possible, I would exchange the bitcoin for money or something else legal abroad.

It's already happened and it hasn't stopped people from dealing with it. Give people enough incentive and they'll do anything to bypass financial laws. Btc-China and Btc-e being a case in point. No more CNY? No problem? We'll work on US dollars. As for the latter, they now accept CNY as a payment method.

The day I stop hearing about the government employees committing crimes that the rest of us could never get away with is the day I would consider listening to their sage advice. I obey almost all laws currently, I even signal when I switch lanes, I don't litter, I don't cheat on my taxes and I don't download software or media illegally.  But I can't take the government to be entirely authoritative when at least 20% of the employees are committing something that would amount to a felony.

How can the government ban Bitcoin? To ban the usage of Bitcoins, they will have to ban the internet altogether, which is very much unpractical. Also, there are browsers such as TOR and I2P which can hide the IPs, which can make it harder for the government to trace BTC users.

Well they say it is illegal which is essentially a ban.  It doesn't mean they can stop it.  Using fireworks on the 4rth of July is banned in my city - doesn't stop the 100 or so that I hear on the 4rth.

I don't how it can be banned, they can however ban the legal trade of it from fiat to btc and vice versa which would made it difficult to trade it locally but I don't think it would stop me from using bitcoin, I'd find alternate ways of doing it.

To ban a currency is just ridiculous, I think most users would keep using it.
If it is a crime to own money, you are not living in a capitalist state.

Governments are becoming less relevant by the day, couldn't care less if they 'banned' bitcoin in my country. Worse that could happen would be that cryptos go underground...

With me not having any country, I wouldn't care at all.

We shall remember than some 90 years ago in the U.S., alcohol was banned and that didn't stop people from drinking.
Note also that drugs are illegal in most places, yet, they're everywhere.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.
