A faucet gives you a minimal amount of Bitcoins for free. Think of it a as promotion, to get people interested.

If course you can sell them. They are no different than any other coins.

Unless it's a 'testnet' faucet, that is for development purposes only. Care to share which site you are talking about specifically?

Most likely not. Post a link to that site.

What are faucets? They're a waste of time.

i mean i want to earn bitcoins in online methods by visiting sites and shortnening urls and by microtasks if i earn those coins can i sell them to others but those are not development coins know...?

Seriously, you'll just waste your time and effort. You will barely get dust for lots of hard work.

Faucets are sites that you can get a tiny amount of bitcoin by just entering a captcha.
People suggested you to stay away from faucets because you will just waste your precious time for getting a few cents.

Faucets give you tiny amounts of BTC in exchange that you view some advertisements or solve some captchas. They really don't give you a lot and you mostly just waste your time there. Faucets are only interesting for people who want to get to know bitcoin and make their first steps.

Faucets were used in the older days to introduce people to BTC. Now they are mostly used by people with too much time on their hand, collecting BTC from 100s of faucet sites Wink

I rember when BTC faucets gave upto 1 BTC!

I find bitcoins a great way to earn free bitcoins. It requires very little work and you can get a decent amount. I find it a lot better than mining, at least for me. I don't have the funds to buy a mining rig(s), plus with the difficulty these days, its getting tougher to mine bitcoins.

I used faucets to collect bitcoins then I will use them on sports betting and/or casino gambling. They are free, so I don't feel bad if I lose them  Grin

Faucets are a nice and easy way to get used to Bitcoins and how the basics works.

You gotta create a wallet, copy and paste your address on faucets sites, enter captcha and get a few satoshis for free
don't see it as a main income or even a profitable way to get Bitcoins, but a free way to learn about bitcoin transactions, and basics.

You will earn small amount on those sites, and then transfer those bitcoins to your wallet and do whatever you want with em.

Faucets are a way to pay the transaction fees but not much more than that. I get more from Anonymous Ads (create banner ad boxes that pay in Bitcoin for your website), not that it's all that much, and at least I don't have to solve the CAPTCHAs to do it.

Another alternative to a-ads is adbit.co.

OP: Faucets are often a waste of time unless you have farms solving captchas for you. Even then you'll be making a few mbtc's a day.

You might earn well from referrals though.

It still gives 1 BTC per week to some people with 1000s of refferals.  ^Smile^
Unfortunately, I am not one of them, and I live from the bread crumbs, falling from the table. ^Haha^

I recently experimented in creating my own website to promote ref's and it failed miserably. ^Cry^
