There is a big wave of newby accounts coming to the forums offering big loans requesting a collateral.

DO NOT SEND THEM ANY COLLATERAL, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND SPLIT!

The forum was founded in 2009 by Satoshi and Sirius. It replaced a SourceForge forum.

So-uh. How much did you get scammed out of? I guess if you wanted to get a loan you can use escrow to hold the collateral.

Nothing, but many people did. And those newby "lenders" are spamming this forum. Thought it would be good to warn some of them!

I wonder what triggered the sudden influx of newbies going to the lending section.

Avoid doing deals without escrow and you'll be fine. And if you're wondering how to avoid a bad escrow? Please see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0
