Apologies if this is a little too 'Meta', but I'd like to gauge how all you speculators view this place. You know, get a better grasp of exactly why you post here/read posts here so that I know what to expect from it in the future.

BONUS question -

I find myself reading Speculation too often myself... what is it that keeps you coming back?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Do I take it seriously? Maybe a little. Mainly I take this forum and Tradingview with a grain of salt. Everybody is trolling for their own position, whether they are a good investor/trader or not.

Not really, no. Profitable speculators don't give away their secrets.

Well, what's a "secret"? There are a handful of analysts that I watch because they have shown themselves to be consistently profitable. It's easy to pick apart peoples' records, but anyone who is right > 50% of the time in regards to big moves, is worth looking at.

I take seriously only the content which is closer to my point of view, at the moment all the threads
where people is bullish and the ones with the positive distant future predictions.

Ha, ha, define seriously?  People talk (or pump) their position.  So the folks who hold bitcoin, which is most people here, talk "to the moon."  While trolls and the handful of folks who are here and don't have btc make insane threads like BTC back to 1 USD by 2015!

So the content of this section is mostly worthless, but in meta terms it can be very interesting.

I find, though, that this forum is always bullish-leaning. I see some people turning bear/bull, and a few bear trolls pop up from time to time, but mostly it's perma bulls in here.

I suggest not always doing opposite the perma bulls. Smiley

I take this section's content as seriously as the btc-e trollbox.

It gives a hint about what is the sentiment among some traders, what their strategy, and mainly how they want to influence the market.

And traders that know what they are doing don't visit or post here, but surely there manipulative whales here and on the trollbox

How about masterluc/lucif? I got in at the bottom before the last bubble run-up purely because of that guy. I was a total newbie at the time and did not know what I was doing.

Well it's like a bar you hang out constantly. You need to talk to people in order to get things off of your mind. It helps to talk during flash crashes and reassure yourself. And when there actually is a train some time, the pictures and videos are making the rallye even better!

I sift through 95% dirt to get the 5% gold. It's the first place reasonable people start panicking, I wouldn't have got my coins out of gox without with forum, for example. And I might have sold my bitcoins at $10 without some of these uberbulls.

Information here is generally unreliable, however you can "listen" to it with a grain of salt. You can easily get some really good ideas by reading what is on here.
