Why does Bitcoin Magazine sell its mags for USD as a default? I didn't even see a BTC option when trying to check out!

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/magazine/product-category/print/

Looks like a cool publication but not if it doesn't solely support the Bitcoin community. These mags shouldn't even be available with  fiat!

They should absolutely be available in fiat. Don't you want people who aren't already involved to learn about Bitcoin? Fiat is also easier to get at this point in time.

Of course, but an authority on the industry should support that industry as a default and fiat should be the exception.

They instantly lose credibility!

If you add the item to your cart and check out it is defaulted to Bitpay.

They should be available for sale in any currency that the publisher sees fit.

BTC, fiat etc. Offering the mag for sale in fiat surely opens it up to a lot more people?

Think....... Write......... Not vice versa.

You definitely MUST accept fiat currency if you want to attract people on a big scale, accepting only Bitcoin would not make sense.

If they have to deal with companies in USD, they really may be better of doing it that way. What good does you a volatile BTC price if you're obliged to pay certain amounts of FIAT every month or for every issue? They just try keep playing it safe, which is reasonable!

They should be priced in Bitcoin, BUT

Bitcoin can be volatile, and that means that prices would have to rapidly change in order to keep the BTC cost at $8.88. Pricing it in USD would make it so that it's constant, and can change with the volatility.

I can't believe no-one said this. Is everyone really that short sighted...

"Accepting only Bitcoin would not make sense?" But accepting only USD does make sense? If I'm interested in this mag and conduct transactions in BTC and see the prices for the mag listed in USD I wouldn't even go through the process of checkout. They've already lost me because they don't sell the mag in a currency I want to transact in.

If you want adoption of Bitcoin then accepting sales only in Bitcoin does, in fact, make sense.

P.S., thanks for insulting me.

Yeah exactly. If they operate with contractors on a USD (or whatever FIAT) basis, they're best of receiving their income in a currency in which they can directly pay their obligations. BTC is still too volatile, it's true.

I don't see problem here.
Not everybody interested in bitcoin already have bitcoin in their wallet.
If goal of this magazine is to have readers not just from bitcoin community but also from people not involved in bitcoin business yet, than it make sense to offer different payment options.

Dell.

And some bullion dealers I know, nice 3% discount.

I don't mind discounts like that. If they accept Bitcoin, they may very well dislike fiat in it's entirety. But that's just my opinion, and chances are they don't.

Yeah! A great reason, you're right! I also rather spend my USD, than spend my precious Bitcoins. I don't intend to spend them, otherwise I'd pretty soon won't be a BitcoinMillionaire anymore, hahaha!
